The Adams Morgan Partnership BID is excited to partner with the
National Cherry Blossom Festival
and host a one-of-a-kind, giant cherry blossom sculpture in Adams Morgan! The five foot tall, 1,200 pound sculpture is called “
Community Grid
” and will be located in BB&T Plaza at 1801 Adams Mill Rd NW. The Adams Morgan Partnership BID, National Cherry Blossom Festival, and sculpture artists will unveil the sculpture today, March 15 at 11am, just in time for Spring!
“We’re thrilled to be part of such a fun, interactive art exhibit. The Cherry Blossom Festival is such a special time of year in DC and this is a great way to have some socially-distant fun while supporting local businesses,” said Kristen Barden, Executive Director of the Adams Morgan Partnership BID. “We encourage you to explore Adams Morgan, dine on an outdoor patio, shop at an eclectic boutique, and experience all of the art throughout our neighborhood!”
The sculpture was designed by local artists My Ly (
@mylydesign
) and Jaclyn Stallard (
@jstallard
). It's one of 26 sculptures that will be installed throughout DC, Virginia, and Maryland as part of
Art in Bloom
, a public art exhibition in celebration of the National Cherry Blossom Festival. All 26 sculptures have been hand-painted by a local or national artist. “Adams Morgan is known for its vibrant arts and cultural community. We could not have dreamed of a better location for our art!” Artist, My Ly, stated. “The neighborhood vibe that draws people to Adams Morgan is part of the essence that inspired our

art. I live in the area, so I couldn’t be happier that the art is coming home,” she continued.
Community Grid
encourages conversation and interaction as viewers are invited to identify their own location as well as the placement of monumental landmarks throughout Washington, DC. The design creatively weaves together the diversity of DC as an abstract quilt of the nation’s capital city. The DC city street map is a symbol of strength encompassing a patchwork of colors and neighborhoods that connect communities together. This recognizable and iconic city grid celebrates the coming together of people and purpose in a sacred place at a special time, the annual Cherry Blossom Festival.
