Putting together a weekend package in Adams Morgan for a charity auction

A friend of Adams Morgan in Virginia Beach, VA is putting together a weekend package for a family or couple to experience and get to know Adams Morgan.  This package will be auctioned off at a live auction event at Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School.

The school is a college preparatory high school striving for excellence both in academic and spiritual development.  Students come primarily from the Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Chesapeake areas although they typically have approximately 10 foreign exchange students per year from as far away as Korea. Bishop Sullivan currently has 425 students and provided scholarship assistance to 83 students in 2012.

On March 2, 2013, Bish o p Sullivan Catholic High School will hold its annual Grand Auction, "A Bishop Sullivan CHS Celebration." Sponsors and donors are acknowledged in their Crusader publication which is mailed to over 10,000 households. All donations are tax deductible to the extent permissible by law.
They alre ady have a 2night stay-package from Adam's Inn on Lanier and are looking for donations or discounted items (they will pay for some things) to round out the weekend package - whatever might make an exciting package for a weekend of fun for either a family or a couple.
T he following items would be great:
-gift certificates to area restaurants
-tickets to area attractions & entertainment
-gift certificates for wine tasting
-any other fun ideas!
If you would like to contribute to this, please contact Kristen at 202-997-0783 or kbarden@adamsmorganonline.org .

Ask Me About DC event - February 21, 2013

We are again going to participate in the annual "Ask Me About DC" event organized by Destination DC on Capitol Hill.

The day provides Members of Congress and House and Senate staff an opportunity to learn about attractions, entertainment and dining options in Washington, DC to support the needs of their constituents. The majority of the attendees are staffers and interns. There are more than 800 people who attend this event. Many of them have just moved to DC. This is a terrific opportunity to get your marketing materials in the hands of brand new DC residents.

We collect items from ALL ADAMS MORGAN BUSINESSES to distribute in a bag to attendees.

SOOO here is what we need from you before TOMORROW - TOMORROW IS YOUR LAST DAY:

* Menus

* Business cards

* Flyers

* Discount coupons

* Disposable bags - we need close to 800 of them

* Give away items with your logo/name on them that would catch their attention

* Anything else you would like us to give to folks....

Please also consider doing a raffle of something. Having some kind of raffle at our table will encourage people to visit and encourage them to linger a bit longer. Clarence Myers will be collecting these items so please coordinate with him.  Clarence can be reached at 202-536-9515.

Thanks!

GoDCGo Launches new Getting Around Guide!

If you thought the staff of goDCgo was hibernating like smallish, fuzzy creatures this winter, sipping Chai tea and talking about stuff we’re simply too drowsy to do, you would be wrong. We’ve just rolled out a brand-spanking new interactive tool on our website for everyone and anyone with an interest in getting around the District to use.

Check out our new Getting Around Guide - a thorough guide to all of the District’s public transit options -- filled with information on the benefits of reduced car travel and how it can be accomplished.

If you are so inclined (and we think you are), feel free to link to it – it’s the perfect addition to any website that seeks to make traveling throughout the District easy for their residents and workers. That means community groups, neighborhood blogs, realtors or residential building managers – or anyone who thinks this tool and partnering with goDCgo would benefit your readers.

GWHCC Annual Business Expo - April 2, 2013

Can you believe that the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's (GWHCC) 4th Annual Business Expo is just around the corner?

GWHCC would like to invite Adams Morgan businesses to join them again at the Business Expo on April 2, 2013. www.gwhcc.org

The Adams Morgan Partnership BID sponsored two booths that were shared by 5 businesses at last year's EXPO (the 6th business was not able to go at the last minute) and showcased their businesses and built connections with participating government agencies, corporations, embassies, non-profits, small businesses, and individuals in the local Hispanic business community. This year GWHCC is anticipating over 1,300 attendees and 110 exhibitors.

Spaces are filling up fast so we would like to know by TOMORROW -TOMORROW IS YOUR LAST DAY TO RESPOND if you would like to participate again this year. We will pay for shared booths for 3 businesses per booth for up to 12 businesses or 4 booths.

If you would like to take advantage of this great opportunity feel free to contact Kristen at 202-997-0783 or kbarden@adamsmorganonline.org .
