The 30th anniversary party is as much about honoring DCAC’s history as it is about laying the foundation for its future. DCAC has partnered with creative agency Uptown Art House and Pakke Social’s new DIY art space located in the alleyway behind 2412 18th Street,

Adams Morgan Apple Festival and Pie Contest coming Saturday, October 26
|
The
Adams Morgan Apple Festival
will be held on
Saturday October 26, 2019 from 10:30am to 1pm
at SunTrust Plaza. The festival is a collaborative effort between the Adams Morgan Partnership and the Adams Morgan Farmers Market.
This year will also mark the 6th annual Apple Pie Contest with proceeds from slice sales benefiting
Platform of Hope
. We have already hit our limit of 16 contestants and have a standby list as well, so if you weren't able to enter, please try again next year.

WRAP’s 2019 Halloween SoberRide campaign
|
WRAP’s 2019 Halloween SoberRide campaign is scheduled to run from 10:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26th until 4:00 a.m. Sunday, October 27th, 2019. WRAP’s SoberRide program is one of the nation’s most successful free safe rides programs for would-be impaired drivers. However, prevention is essential for keeping our highways safe during high-risk holidays.
AMPBID staff will be distributing SoberRide cards and posters during the week leading up to the holiday.

The 2019 edition of Adams Morgan PorchFest -- DC's most creative and immersive music festival -- was the biggest and best ever with thousands of visitors strolling the avenues of Adams Morgan taking in 58 performances at 17 locations.
It was great for businesses as well with multiple shops and restaurants telling us that it was their biggest day of the year with even more foot traffic than they get on Adams Morgan Day. The wristband discount program we introduced this year was tremendously successful and we will be bringing it back and expanding it next year, so plan on your Adams Morgan business participating.

Great Streets Small Business Grant Funding Availability
|
The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) welcomes submissions from eligible small businesses seeking to improve their place of business through this capital improvement grant program.
Purpose
:
The purpose of the
Great Streets Initiative
is to transform certain designated emerging commercial corridors into thriving, walkable, shoppable and inviting neighborhood experiences. The Great Streets Initiative does this by supporting existing businesses, attracting new businesses, increasing the District’s tax base, and creating new job opportunities for District residents.
Award
:
DMPED will award up $3,000,000.00 total in grants. Maximum request per application is $50,000.00.
Eligible businesses
:
A new or existing small business owner whose business location is either within, and/or plans to move to a Great Street Corridor are eligible (see map at: http://ht.ly/m90F30cM0bz ).
Ineligible businesses:
Adult Entertainment, Auto Body Shops, Financial Institutions, Construction/General Contracting, Home-Based Businesses, Non-Profit Child Development Centers, Hotels, Phone Stores, and Real Estate Development/Property Management Realtor.

Sign Up for Required Training Under Tipped Workers Fairness Act

, are hosting a required training under the Tipped Workers Fairness Act (Repeal of 77) on Tuesday, October 29th at 2pm at Church Hall (1070 Wisconsin Ave, NW).
The Tipped Workers Fairness Act mandates that before the end of the year, managers are required to attend an in-person training on the requirements of this Act. Each owner must also offer its employees the opportunity to attend an in-person or online training on the requirements of this Act. Certification of the completion of the training must be provided to Department of Employment Services before December 31st of each year. RAMW will provide certification for each attendee.

|
The Small & Diverse Business Education Fund Scholarship is designed to provide targeted training and development support to qualified certified Small and Diverse Business owners, as well as to support Diverse Business initiatives. The Small & Diverse Business Education Fund Scholarship Selection Committee will award up to 50 scholarships up to $10,000 each as eligible applicants are identified through the selection process. Scholarships may be used for tuition, books and fees for training in the following areas:
