The next Adams Morgan Partnership BID (AMPBID) Board meeting will be Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 5 PM at the MPD Third District Headquarters in the Snyder Conference Room at 1620 V Street, NW. We need to be out of the room by 7 pm.

Please note this meeting is one week earlier than usual.

Think Local First's CASH MOB comes to Adams Morgan on Saturday at noon!

The folks at Think Local First DC are staging another DC Cash Mob this time in Adams Morgan on Saturday April 28th at 12 noon.

What is a Cash Mob you ask? A Cash Mob is a group of enthusiastic shoppers with $20 or more in there pocket visit a local, independently owned business to spend their money and give the business owner a little economic stimulus!

On Saturday, March 24, Think Local First jump-started the District's involvement in this national movement when 32 people spent over $500 in one hour at Old City Green ! Imagine what would have happened if it wasn’t raining. NBC4 covered the event too! See us on NBC 4

Want to know where they’re mobbing next? Well we know it is in Adams Morgan...

Here’s a hint: The DC-based independent businesses has been open for over 30 years!

Clue #2: This independent business is open 7 days a week.

Clue #3: Mobbers joining us this Saturday will surely get lost browsing the 50,000 items this local business offers.

Going Green Saves You Money!

Adams Morgan participants including among others:

Have collectively saved $32,680 in electricity costs alone this last year.

Combined with the nonprofit participants, it becomes $78,500 in savings.

We learned this week that Sakuramen at 2441- 18th Street, NW, in the lower level will be opening in mid-May.  Many have been eagerly watching the renovations to this space that previously was home to Jumbo Slice and Kabob.

Sitar Arts Center needs wine donations for May 2 event

DONATE WINE TO A GREAT ADAMS MORGAN NONPROFIT

Do you have any extra wine you could donate to help the Sitar Arts Center, an after-school safe haven located at 17th Street and Kalorama Road that brings its diverse community together to give under-served children and youth the opportunity to explore and study the visual and performing arts.

Donate as little as one bottle, one case, or as much as you want! It doesn't matter if it's odd samples or a wine that's come off your wine list during a recent update...as long as it is still in good shape, they'll take it.

Their most immediate need is for white wine to serve at a very important event on Wednesday May 2, so please contact Sitar Arts Center ASAP if you can help. Wine donated later (red, white, rose, bubbly) will be used at subsequent events. We will personally pick up all donations!

Workshop on Financial Incentives for doing business in DC - May 9th

The Washington DC Economic Partnership (WDCEP) is hosting another FREE Workshop in their series Doing Business 2.0.

Being in proximity to the Federal government has many advantages for entrepreneurs located in our nation’s capital. Business owners can take advantage of a variety of programs geared towards attracting and retaining businesses.

The Government of the District of Columbia also provides tax and other financial benefits to businesses through incentive programs.

In this edition of the Doing Business 2.0,  WDCEP brings you a panel of experts who will walk you through the financial incentives available in DC.

Panelists will cover the DC tech incentive program, the DC revenue Bond Program, the DC Great Street Program and also the Enterprise Zone program.
