DC Commercial Waste Compactor Grants Program
The DC Commercial Waste Compactor Grants Program provides eligible District businesses with grants up to $13,500 for the purchase or lease of a commercial waste compactor to collect and compost bulk trash, waste and recyclables. Individual and multiple business
applications will be accepted on a rolling basis now through 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017

Eligibility

Licensed, DC-based for-profit business in good standing with DCRA and OTR

Must have the appropriate space, access, and consent to install a compactor

Businesses that purchased a compactor between October 1, 2016 – June 1, 2017 are eligible for a partial grant

CNHED is co-facilitating joint information sessions with the DMPED Great Streets Program to help spread the word about the Commercial Waste Compactor Grant Program to local businesses. At the information session, business owners will have an opportunity to learn more about the compactor grant program, receive instruction on how to submit a completed application, and get their questions answered.

PARK(ing Day) returns on Friday, September 15
PARK(ing) Day
returns to the District of Columbia on Friday, September 15, 2017, from 9 am to 4 pm. District residents and businesses displayed their creativity for last year’s event, building more than 30 pop-up parks in curbside parking spaces.
Initially started in San Francisco in 2005, PARK(ing) Day is an event in which residents and businesses re-think the use of public space by converting metered on-street parking spaces into temporary parks. Since its inception, the event has spread to cities around the world, taking place on the third Friday of September.
Apply for a PARK(ing) Day permit through DDOT
For this year's event, DDOT has designed a process for applicants to obtain a permit using the Transportation Online Permitting System (TOPS). Applicants should familiarize themselves with all the event requirements before designing their park or beginning the permitting process.
The deadline to apply for PARK(ing) Day is Tuesday, August 29, 2017.
