Last call for Adams Morgan Day sponsor incentives
|
From the Adams Morgan Day Planning Committee and Adams Morgan Community Alliance:
Friday, August 16th is the deadline for businesses supporting the festival at the $500 level to have their logo included on the Adams Morgan Day t-shirts. Other sponsor levels and incentives are still available, but for a short time. The neighborhood has approximately $30,000 to raise in the next 3.5 weeks for what will be a fun and safe 41st celebration of our neighborhood. Donations can be accepted via a PayPal link on the website or the organizers can pick up a check. Potential sponsors can contact the festival organizers at

This year’s festival on
Sunday, September 8th from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm
will bring thousands of people seeking fun, good food and drink, culture and live music, and the arts to the neighborhood where they'll find businesses, restaurants, and vendors selling unique locally-made works. Also, restaurants and businesses along 18th Street and Columbia Road will be offering specials that day. Businesses that complete
this form
describing their specials receive free co-marketing and a listing on the festival website. A full lineup is planned along the street closure on 18th Street, with live music and other performances on stages at Columbia Road and the Marie Reed Plaza; a dance plaza at Kalorama Road; history and cultural activities at Belmont Road and at the
Adams Morgan Community Center
at
The Line Hotel
; live interactive visual arts in the alley near
Little Shop of Flowers
; and youth and family sports, games and activities at the Marie Reed soccer field and plaza. Volunteers and individual donations are also needed. Sign up and find all information at

Adams Morgan Partnership Quarterly Board Meeting
|
The next Adams Morgan Partnership BID (AMPBID) Board of Directors' meeting will be
Tuesday, September 10
from 5-7:00 PM at the Festival Center at 1640 Columbia Rd NW. Hope you can join us! Prayas Neupane from WDCEP and Phillip Mcauley from DMPED will be in attendance to talk about Employer Engagement 100 which is the Bowser Administration's year-long dialog with an initial collection of the city's largest, fastest growing, and most innovative employers.

Adams Morgan PorchFest returns on October 5!
|
DC's most creative music festival returns this fall with dozens of local bands. On
Saturday, October 5
, we'll turn over 16 porches and stoops into stages for the day for
Adams Morgan PorchFest
. In 2018, we hosted 57 performances on 16 stages, and we're already working on bringing back your favorite bands. See you there!

Adams Morgan Apple Festival and Pie Contest date set
|
The
Adams Morgan Apple Festival
will be held on
Saturday October 26, 2019
at SunTrust Plaza. The festival is a collaborative effort between the Adams Morgan Partnership and the Adams Morgan Farmers Market.
This year will also mark the 6th Apple Pie Contest with proceeds from slice sales benefiting
Platform of Hope
. Each contestant will bake three identical pies -- one is for judging and the remaining pies are cut with slices being sold for $5 each.

, the DC Business Emergency Management Operations Center (DC BEMOC) will be hosting their first ever Business Preparedness Day from 9:00 to 3:00 at HSEMA’s Headquarters. This 6 hour event will convene first responders and emergency managers from District agencies and private sector partners to:

Discuss ongoing business preparedness initiatives in the District

Showcase new technologies that are being leveraged by HSEMA and the BEMOC

Conduct the first ever BEMOC Tabletop Exercise
The purpose of the Business Preparedness Day is to help DC HSEMA better understand the needs of the District’s Private Sector before, during and after an emergency. These discussions will help identify and prioritize operational issues that can be solved through Public-Private Partnerships.

Until Help Arrives Train-the-Trainer Course

Northern Virginia High Threat Response Program
This 1.5 day course is being offered to regional partners who wish to become certified to provide Until Help Arrives training to their communities or businesses. Until Help Arrives is a program developed with the goal of building a continuum of care and enabling citizens to provide immediate medical care to victims of active shooter situations, prior to the arrival of first responders. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency is hosting a one-day Security Workshop to enhance awareness of, and response to, an active shooter event.
