The Festival Center's Community Give Away - June 15-18
|
The Festival Center (1640 Columbia Rd., NW) is getting ready for major renovations and is having a Community Give Away - June 15-18. Things we're putting out for people to take include:

desks, bookshelves, cabinets and chairs
-
books
-
vases and some kitchen supplies
-
refrigerator
-
pictures that haven't yet found a home
-
other things left by office tenants
Come by between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on those days (10 a.m. - Noon on Friday, June 18) and take what you need. Also, please spread the word within your networks!

June AMPBID Board Meeting
|
Our next board meeting of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District (AMPBID) will be on Tuesday, June 8 at 5pm via Zoom. In addition to regular business, board members are expected to vote on the proposed budget for FY22 and will discuss the upcoming reauthorization hearing scheduled for June 21.

Movie Nights: Brown Bag Movie Meals
We're looking for businesses who want to participate in our "Brown Bag to Movie Nights" program again this year. Adams Morgan Farmers Market coming to Unity Park on Saturday, June 5!
|
On June 5, the beloved Adams Morgan Farmers Market will begin operations at Unity Park in front of The LINE Hotel DC. Unity Park is the triangle park at the confluence of Columbia Rd., Champlain St., and Euclid St., NW. The market is celebrating its 49th year in the neighborhood. The market will be open from 8:30am - 1pm on Saturdays through Christmas.
Parking around the park will be restricted from 5am - 3pm on Saturdays for the market to allow for the vendors' trucks --
cars will be towed if they violate the parking restrictions

With the upcoming 4th of July holiday WRAP is holding its SoberRideⓇ campaign in hopes of keeping impaired drivers off the roads in the Washington-Metropolitan area. In the past (pre-COVID), you have received printed SoberRideⓇ materials to distribute to your employees but during the pandemic they have not been producing them. WRAP is trying to assess whether or not businesses would like to receive the print materials for SoberRideⓇ or would rather receive a digital version.

SBA launches the Community Navigator Pilot Program
|
Last week, the U.S. Small Business Administration launched the
Community Navigator Pilot Program
, a $100 million grant program enacted through the American Rescue Plan Act, which will provide counseling, networking and the assistance needed during this time of economic recovery to the nation’s smallest businesses. The program will target small businesses owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, as well as women and veterans.
The SBA will engage with states, local governments, SBA resource partners, and other organizations in targeted outreach efforts. These partners and people in the community are key to this pilot program as they will serve as a two-way information stream, enabling enterprising business owners to receive the help needed from the SBA.

Metro's 'Doing Our Part' Campaign

The next phase of the
Doing Our Part
marketing campaign kicks off this week with updated messaging. In response to customers, WMATA is focusing on continued commitment to safety measures, air filtration, touchless payment, and bus crowding technology. The campaign will reach lapsed and active bus and rail riders through TV, radio, print, digital and social media advertising including WJLA, WUSA, ESPN, HGTV, BET, WHUR, WPGC, Facebook, Instagram, podcasts, etc.
The
first spot
begins this week. Two additional spots are in final production that will roll out later this month, focused on air circulation, and on bus riders using new fare apps and real-time crowdsourcing on their phones.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND PRELIMINARY FINDING ON THE RECERTIFICATION OF THE ADAMS MORGAN PARTNERSHIP BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to section 19 of the Business Improvement Districts Act of 1996, effective May 29, 1996 (D.C. Law 11-134; D.C. Official Code § 2-1215.18) (“Act”), the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) will hold a public hearing on the recertification of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District.
The public hearing will be held at 2:00 pm on
Monday, June 21, 2021 in Suite 850N, 441 4th Street NW, Washington, D.C.
DSLBD Director Kristi Whitfield has informed the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District that the filing criteria set forth in D.C. Official Code § 2-1215.18 have been met and their application is otherwise in conformity with the Act.
The BID application is available for review by the public during normal business hours on weekdays at 1640 Columbia Road, N.W., in the offices of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District; and by the public online at:

DSLBD invites the public to testify at the public hearing. Witnesses should bring a copy of their written testimony to the hearing. Additional written statements may be submitted by e-mail to
