Adams Morgan Eats in the Streets
!
|
Adams Morgan celebrates its diverse culinary scene at
Adams Morgan Eats in the Streets
on Saturday, July 29 from 1pm-8pm! The outdoor event will take place during the launch of the 2023 Adams Morgan Pedestrian Zone between the 2400-2300 blocks of 18th Street NW. Eats in the Streets will showcase approximately 50 neighborhood restaurants and retailers in streatery spaces along the road closure. Attendees can sample cuisines from across the globe, purchase meals to go, enjoy free entertainment, and wander through an open street closed to vehicular traffic. Participating restaurants will be offering dozens of all-day discounts, a “crowd favorite” menu item for $10 or less, and other fun surprises. Neighborhood retailers will also be onsite selling merchandise, giving out free samples, swag, and more.
Picnic tables will be available for attendees to eat at, enjoy live musical performances throughout the day, and gather with neighbors. Free fitness classes, face painting, a Foamboree for kids, balloon twisting, a chalk art muralist, and other fun activities will be available to event patrons – a schedule can be found online prior to the event. A DC Water misting station and water bottle refill station will be available for the public’s enjoyment and to cool down.
Street Closure and Detours
18th Street will be closed to vehicle traffic from 11am - 9pm on Saturday. The 90 and 92 WMATA buses will be detoured during that time. For detour information visit

There will be no outside vendors at this event
-- it is strictly for the benefit of Adams Morgan businesses and we will have tents set up to allow businesses from other parts of the neighborhood to participate in the closure zone.

Drag Storytime Sunday with Venus Valhalla

Drag Storytime
in Adams Morgan! The monthly events are free and open to children of all ages (and perfect for the entire family!). AdMo Vibe concerts return to Kalorama Park next week with Darcy Dawn
|
AdMo Vibe
is the ultimate setting for a family night out, date night, relaxing evening in the park, or solo adventure. The bands will be playing various genres of music including folk, pop, classical, rock, jazz, and more. Concert goers can picnic with takeout from a local restaurant, enjoy good vibes with neighbors and friends, and visit an array of shops and boutiques just steps away before or after the performances.

DC Tipped Wage Workers (TWWF) Anti-Sexual Harassment Training
The
Tipped Wage Workers Fairness Amendment Act (TWWF)
requires District employers who hire individuals earning tips as wages to complete an anti-sexual harassment training by a DC Office of Human Rights (OHR) certified trainer every two years. The implementation of Initiative 82 does not affect this requirement.
The deadline to complete TWWF anti-sexual harassment training is August 31, 2023.

Electronics collection events, known as eCYCLE DC events, are being held throughout the year to collect used electronics for recycling. These events are run by electronics manufacturers and approved by DOEE as required by District law. Computers, TVs, and related equipment are accepted for free from DC residents, small businesses, and small nonprofits.

. The group currently running these events is required to have one event in each District ward during each quarter.

Racial Equity Capital Fund
|
Exelon launched a Racial Equity Capital Fund (RECF), in partnership with the Exelon Foundation, to expand access to capital to minority businesses so they can create more jobs, grow their companies, and reinvest in their neighborhoods and communities. The fund builds on Exelon’s longstanding history of supporting the underserved and under-resourced communities and further delivers on Exelon's commitment to drive economic equity and opportunity for Exelon's communities.
The capital fund is part of Exelon’s ongoing, extensive efforts to promote equity and economic opportunity in the diverse communities served by the six Exelon utilities, which include Atlantic City Electric (ACE), BGE, ComEd, Delmarva Power (DPL), PECO and Pepco. Exelon and the Exelon Foundation have a rich history of supporting underserved and under-resourced communities.

|
A new information hub is now available to assist and guide localities across metropolitan Washington as area leaders work to implement policies and actions to increase adoption of electric vehicles in the region. COG’s EV Deployment Clearinghouse compiles resources on local EV plans and policies, operations support agreements, grant and partnership opportunities for EVs and related infrastructure, and more. The clearinghouse also includes an EV Ready Checklist to offer localities a streamlined, step-by-step overview of actions that can be taken to expand EV adoption and use.

The Small Medium Business Growth Fund will offer approximately $2 million dollars in total grants aimed to retain, grow and propel innovation in district-based small businesses by supporting large scale capital improvements, critical equipment purchasing, and technological advancements within industries related to green innovation, experiential retail, incubators, immersive entertainment and professional services.

💸 Commercial Property Acquisition Fund (DMPED)
The Commercial Property Acquisition Fund will provide eligible businesses with down payment assistance of up to $750,000 or 25% of the sale price, whichever is less, for the acquisition of commercial property in the District. This year, businesses will need to complete three mandatory sessions in order to apply for the Fund. OPEN now on a rolling basis until funds are expended.
