2) Döner Bistro special event on April 9th - 1654 Columbia Road, NW
On Wednesday April 9th Döner Bistro will be celebrating Starkbierfest at 7pm. Starkbierfest is a yearly event in Germany to celebrate the amazing strong beers the country produces. It is free to attend. They will have a DJ playing pop, rock, electo, rap, and dance music in German. It is the perfect event for those of you who love German food and appreciate strong, dark, and quality German beers. They will be having a special for all beers over 6%, only $5. They are really excited to share this special event with the Adams Morgan community.

AMBA Meet and Greet

Join AMBA TONIGHT April 3rd from 6:30pm to close at Southern Hospitality for $5 food specials from 4pm- 7pm, 1/2 bottles of wine and $3 Bud Lights all night.

The Adams Morgan Basketball  Association (AMBA) is striving to further instill a sense of community, health, and general well-being  in Adams Morgan's youth. The Adams Morgan Basketball Association (AMBA) is a community-based non-profit run by local residents serving Adams Morgan and the surrounding neighborhoods. Using basketball as a vehicle, AMBA's goal is to provide a variety of activities  including youth basketball camps, neighborhood tournaments, park clean-up days, mentoring and professional services in an effort to creating a better, healthier, and stronger Adams Morgan community  for our youth today and in the future.


Why has AMBA's primary focus been basketball and how did we begin? Since AMBA's inception in 2011, it has been organizing and executing annual community youth basketball tournaments in the  Kalorama Park. The tournaments have traditionally been AMBA's primary activity in the community  each year, which has solidified AMBA as a local organization with recognition and participation from the local youth. AMBA is now looking to expand our impact in the Adams Morgan community that will allow youth to develop a fellowship amongst their peers as they participate in sporting events, healthy life style workshops, and other community activities.


Being active in sports and our communities are beneficial to all involved, thus, as AMBA seeks to further expand our impact in the community and we are asking for your help. Your support will fund different activities throughout the year such as clinics/camps; youth nutritional and professional development programs for college prep, FAFSA and resume building and  and interactive website


These are lofty goals but with your support you can help AMBA grow continue servicing our community and look forward to working to better the lives of those in our communities in 2014 and beyond.

So come have a fun TONIGHT while supporting our neighborhood youth with the AMBA Legends, SoHo Staff, and our other neighborhood friends!

Spring Cleaning begins: Monthly rat abatement walk throughs and power washing

1) The monthly rat abatement walk-through will begin again TOMORROW. We will be meeting the FIRST FRIDAY of every month from April through November at 11:00 am with DOH Rat Abatement Specialist, Gerard Brown and his team of specialists.

Each month we will focus on a different alley/street/problem area and DOH will treat for rats.

Please join us for these monthly walk-throughs. Everyone is welcome to join us. Please call Kristen at 202-997-0783 so she knows to look for you. We will meet at the corner of 18th and Belmont each week and walk from there.

2) Now that the temperatures have risen, power washing sidewalks through out the AMPBID area will begin next week. If you have some specific sections of sidewalk you think need special attention (gum, pigeon waste, food spillage, etc...) please send those to Kristen at kbarden@adamsmorganonline.org so she can be sure to direct the clean team to get to those. Thanks.

Do you have a home based business in Adams Morgan? Do you want to start-up a home based business and are interested in learning from others who’ve done that successfully? Or do you work from Tryst and wonder who else there might be based in Adams Morgan too?

If you are interested in networking with other home based businesses in Adams Morgan, we are starting a networking group that will meet for lunch on the first Friday of every month beginning on Friday April 4 th from 12:30 to 2 pm at The Diner, 2453 18 th Street, NW, WDC 20009.

No need to RSVP, just show up. For planning purposes salads run $6.99 to 12.99 and sandwiches are $5.45 to $11.99 so lunch should not cost you more than about $15.00. Depending on level of interest, we will move this around each month to different restaurants.

DSLBD launches FASTTRAC Techventure

Program Aimed at Local Technology Entrepreneurs Reaching for Next Level of Growth

The Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) today announced on Monday a new addition to their entrepreneur program-FastTrac DC. The new program, FastTrac TechVenture is designed to help local tech entrepreneurs develop the skills, resources and networks to launch and grow their firm.

Launched in 2012 with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, FastTrac DC was implemented to assist entrepreneurs in building and strengthening their business. FastTrac TechVenture, a continuation of FastTrac DC, will focus on entrepreneurs with a technology or science-based firm.

For the first time, DSLBD will offer access to technology and training resources specifically tailored towards DC tech companies who are interested in developing and growing a scalable business.

Classes for FastTrac TechVenture begin April 2, 2014 and will meet weekly through May 28, 2014. Classes will feature guest presentations from established entrepreneurs and subject matter experts.
