Update on the 18th Street Streetscape Construction

Planning Meeting scheduled for April 25th for Operation Adams Morgan Part II - postponed until May 2

MPD Captain Aubrey Mongal notified us this morning that the meeting planned for TODAY Wednesday April 25th at 4 pm about Operation Adams Morgan Part II will INSTEAD NOW BE ON be on Wednesday May 2 at 4 PM at the Third District Police Department Headquarters at 1620 V Street, NW, in the Snyder Conference Room. The goal of this meeting will be to set the overall vision and goals for each and every entity that will be needed to build on the success of last year.

Some of you will remember that last Summer and Fall the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) along with many other DC agencies including ABRA, DC FEMS, DPW and DDOT participated in an initiative called Operation Adams Morgan. The goal was to increase public safety and reduce the incidents of public nuisance crimes. Additional MPD Officers were placed in Adams Morgan along with  enf orcement officers from various agencies on weekend nights. According to city officials, the initiative was successful. During the month of September 2011, there was a 40 percent reduction in overall crime and a 20 percent reduction in violent crime.

If you would like to participate in the planning meeting, please email Captain Mongal at: aubrey.mongal@dc.go v Captain Mongal noted: This is not the time for inviting other outside agencies as we will first need to determine which agencies will be invited and exactly what will be required from each based on last years performance and this year's needs. Thank you.
