The next board meeting of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District (AMPBID) will be on Tuesday, May 10 at 5pm via Zoom. In addition to regular business, we will be joined by
Anita LaRue, Assistant United States Attorney, who will discuss how crimes are prosecuted in DC.

Adams Morgan Movie Nights returns May 24 to the Marie Reed soccer field; lineup announced!
|
One of DC's favorite annual events is back this spring with
a
great lineup of films.
The theme of this year's series is "The Road Less Traveled," featuring characters who are on a quest or journey of sorts.
The 2022 edition of Adams Morgan Movie nights is sponsored by

who will once again be donating hundreds of cookies for each screening on a first-come, first-served basis.

page on Facebook for other announcements and promotions. Adams Morgan Movie Nights runs on Tuesday evenings from May 24 through June 21 with a rain date of June 28. Movies are shown on the soccer field at Marie Reed School and start about 30 minutes after sunset. The field is located behind the tennis courts at the corner of 18th Street and California Street, NW.
Movie Nights: Brown Bag Movie Meals
We're looking for businesses who want to participate in our "Brown Bag to Movie Nights" program again this year.
Participating businesses will be promoted along with our movies every week. All your business needs to do is put together a carryout meal of some sort, preferably with utensils (if needed), that will be available on our movie nights (Tuesdays, 5/24 - 6/21) and let us know about it. Contact

Updates from RAMW, including Grant Opportunities!
|
The DC ABC Board extended license renewals until May 31, 2022 at 4:00pm
, with no late fee assessed. This is due to OTR’s issues with Clean Hands compliance, and our advocacy on this front as many operators have been struggling to renew their licenses.
Grant Opportunities
: Mayor Bowser announced a $5.4 million Small Medium Business Growth Fund aimed to retain and expand District-based small businesses by supporting large scale capital improvements, large equipment purchasing, and technological advancements within retail, commercial, professional services, industrial-based businesses, and manufacturing industries.
Apply by 4pm on Friday, May 27.
Eligible businesses include:

New and existing businesses headquartered in the District, which are independently owned and operated
-
Retail businesses and service-oriented businesses
-
Technology-based businesses, professional services, industrial-based, and manufacturers
-
Maximum of $15 million in annual revenue, and with no more than 100 employees
For retail businesses
, awards are up to $50,000 to support capital improvements, purchase of large equipment, and retail expansion. For local manufacturing, awards are up to $100,000 for capital improvements and purchase of large equipment on commercial property with a designated industrial use. In Technology, up to $200,000 to support upgrades that help businesses scale, among other investments. And for small business investment, up to $600,000 to support innovative projects that elevate the development of distressed and emerging neighborhoods throughout the District. Also, DSLBD is now accepting applications for the
2022 Robust Retail Citywide Grants
. The
deadline to apply is 2pm on June 8, 2022
. DSLBD plans to award up to $7,500 per business to a total of 78 businesses. This grant will be operated as a reimbursement grant, awarded via lottery, and open to DC retail businesses that have met all eligibility requirements and submit their application by the deadline. Created by the Zero Waste Act, this program will fund selected projects at food-serving entities in the District to transition from disposable to reusable foodware.

This May,
CNHED
will again launch DC Small Business Month in partnership with District agencies and the small business community. Traditionally communities nationwide set aside the first week of May for the Small Business Administration's (SBA) National Small Business Week, this year from May 1st through 7th.
Since 2016, the District has observed this week-long celebration, and for the past two years, our partners decided to extend festivities through the month, giving birth to DC Small Business Month. We are pleased, to partner with the small business community once again to lift up and spotlight our treasured local small businesses that are the heart of the District of Columbia.
CNHED and partners enthusiastically embrace what has become an annual "spring thing" recognizing and supporting our local small businesses' diversity, creativity, and ingenuity. We hope you agree with us and you'll join us next month to pay homage to our homegrown businesses.

Bike To Work Day 2022 Registration is Live
|
The League of American Bicyclists began Bike to Work Day as part of Bike Month in 1956. Over the years, Bike to Work Day has grown into a widespread event with countless bicyclists taking to the streets nationwide in an effort to get commuters to try bicycling to work as a healthy and safe alternative to driving alone. In the Metropolitan Washington region, Bike to Work Day has grown from a small group of a few hundred in 2001 to an all-time high of 18,700 participants in 2017.
The Adams Morgan pit stop will be at Unity Park again this year where we'll again be joined by
City Bikes
and
WABA
. Adams Morgan regularly has one of the highest registration rates in the city and we plan on having refreshments and other goodies available to riders in addition to the free t-shirt. We'll be updating you with more information as the event gets closer.
