Adams Morgan Movie Nights returns May 24 to the Marie Reed soccer field; lineup announced!
|
One of DC's favorite annual events is back this spring with
a
great lineup of films.
The theme of this year's series is "The Road Less Traveled," featuring characters who are on a quest or journey of sorts.
The 2022 edition of Adams Morgan Movie nights is sponsored by

Insomnia Cookies
who will once again be donating hundreds of cookies for each screening on a first-come, first-served basis.

: Gifted Curators will be providing free freshly-popped popcorn to attendees.

page on Facebook for other announcements and promotions. Adams Morgan Movie Nights runs on Tuesday evenings from May 24 through June 21 with a rain date of June 28. Movies are shown on the soccer field at Marie Reed School and start about 30 minutes after sunset.
Movie Nights: Brown Bag Movie Meals
We're looking for businesses who want to participate in our "Brown Bag to Movie Nights" program again this year.
Participating businesses will be promoted along with our movies every week. All your business needs to do is put together a carryout meal of some sort, preferably with utensils (if needed), that will be available on our movie nights (Tuesdays, 5/24 - 6/21) and let us know about it. Contact

Effective January 1, 2022, it is now illegal to distribute small disposable items like utensils, napkins, condiments, and straws unless the customer asks for them first.
The new law will reduce needless waste and encourage customers to only take what they need. For more information, see

DITCH THE DISPOSABLES grant program
Created by the Zero Waste Act, this program will fund selected projects at food-serving entities in the District to transition from disposable to reusable foodware.
The grant program is administered through Chesapeake Bay Trust. Please check the links below for more information on who is eligible for the grant and what types of projected can be funded.

2022 DC Business Expo: Resources for Financial Success

and other access to capital partners are hosting the 2022 DC Business Expo on
Wednesday, May 4 from 11 am - 6 pm at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Public Library

The focus of this Spring's DC Business Expo is: Financial Resources for Success. This in-person event is designed for District-based businesses who are interested in positioning their businesses for financial success and DC residents exploring entrepreneurship.
Attendees will learn about various pathways to access capital from traditional and non-traditional resources to help DC businesses open, operate and grow. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to connect with lenders, experts and other DC entrepreneurs!

This May,
CNHED
will again launch DC Small Business Month in partnership with District agencies and the small business community. Traditionally communities nationwide set aside the first week of May for the Small Business Administration's (SBA) National Small Business Week, this year from
May 1st through 7th
.
Since 2016, the District has observed this week-long celebration, and for the past two years, our partners decided to extend festivities through the month, giving birth to DC Small Business Month. We are pleased, to partner with the small business community once again to lift up and spotlight our treasured local small businesses that are the heart of the District of Columbia.
CNHED and partners enthusiastically embrace what has become an annual "spring thing" recognizing and supporting our local small businesses' diversity, creativity, and ingenuity. We hope you agree with us and you'll join us next month to pay homage to our homegrown businesses.
As the District continues to navigate COVID-19, this year's events will be both in-person and virtual. Please help spread the word about the events we have lined up for DC Small Business Month throughout May.

Bike To Work Day 2022 Registration is Live
|
The League of American Bicyclists began Bike to Work Day as part of Bike Month in 1956. Over the years, Bike to Work Day has grown into a widespread event with countless bicyclists taking to the streets nationwide in an effort to get commuters to try bicycling to work as a healthy and safe alternative to driving alone. In the Metropolitan Washington region, Bike to Work Day has grown from a small group of a few hundred in 2001 to an all-time high of 18,700 participants in 2017.
The Adams Morgan pit stop will be at Unity Park again this year where we'll again be joined by
City Bikes
and
WABA
. Adams Morgan regularly has one of the highest registration rates in the city and we plan on having refreshments and other goodies available to riders in addition to the free t-shirt. We'll be updating you with more information as the event gets closer.
