Reminders: Marketing Committee November 19th + other marketing news
The next Adams Morgan Partnership BID Marketing Committee Meeting is on Tuesday November 19th at 2 pm. The Marketing Committee is continuing with regular meetings by conference call after a break this summer. If you would like to participate, please contact Kristen at 202-997-0783 or by email:
kbarden@adamsmorganonline.org
for the call in numbers.
We will review new design ideas for another round of bus shelter posters among other things.
RETAILERS!
TODAY is the last day to send in your hi res print ready logo and a brief (ten words of less) description of your business to
kbarden@adamsmorganonline.org
with a copy to our PR consultant Nate Ackerman -
nate_888@yahoo.com
for the full-page ad in the holiday issue of the Washington City Paper on December 5th.
There is no cost to retailers. The BID will be picking up the cost. This is an excellent and painless opportunity to raise visibility for your business.
ALSO - We will be running an online ad on the Washington City Paper's website between November 27th and December 24th with the theme of BECAUSE. This concept will rotate each of a number of "Because" lines beneath the "Shop Adams Morgan this Holiday" headline. The headline will remain constant but the supporting lines below it will vary, so the audience sees a range of reasons to shop in Adams Morgan. For example some of these could include: Because the mall is way too crowded. Because you’ll find items you won’t find anywhere else. Because you value independent shops and want them to thrive. Because the whole “buying local” thing worked out so well with food, you’re willing to try it with retail. Because the shop owner knows your name (if you’re nice and stop in a few times).
The online ad will link to the AMPBID's Facebook page and to a PDF of the print ad.

Summary of Wad 1 Rat Summit - held on November 9th
Kent Boese, an ANC Commissioner at ANC1A08 put together a summary of the Ward 1 Rat Summit since many people weren't able to attend. We thought it was a
good summary for those who want to know what was discussed so we are including the link to his notes here:

The meeting included Councilmember Jim Graham, DCRA Director Nick Majett, and DPW Director Bill Howland along with a guest speaker -- rat expert Dr. Corrigan -- who many have said was excellent.

Adams Morgan Farmers Market offerings for Saturday November 16th
ADAMS MORGAN FARMERS MARKET SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 16
7:30AM - 1:00PM RAIN OR SHINE
SunTrust Plaza at 18th and Columbia Road, NW
So it's getting cold especially in the mornings! But the sun will be shining, so even if you have a slow start, we'll be there waiting for you. But, some of our specialty items may sell out!
HONEY - From our farm! A simple, but special holiday treat. We've been giving them away as gifts and our friends light up! Some honey connoisseurs have noted that it has a
special
aroma and flavor, and indeed it has! The bees visit our wonderful pesticide-free fields but have also found the
Russian Olives
bushes and trees that bloom on our farm every spring and fill the air with an overwhelmingly sensuous aroma. Before you taste, breath in the aroma!
Thanks for trying the ESCAROLE - it all sold last week and we'll have more for Saturday. Last week the customers who knew Escarole, shared their cooking and using ideas with customers who hadn't heard of it and many brave souls decided to try it. We hope to hear from you this week about your adventure with Escarole!
We'll also have a lot of HEIRLOOM LETTUCES (or is it Letti?) and fall ASPARAGUS. This is probably it for the BROCCOLI because of the really cold mornings, but this last harvest is a treat! Our BOK CHOY won't quit for a few more weeks, we hope you are enjoying trying new recipes with it. The other Asian greens are over for the season.
This week we'll have a limited amount of fresh small-scale Amish farmers' EGGS from South Central PA, and BRUSSEL SPROUTS.
Two APPLES worth trying this week are PINK LADIES and BRAEBURNS. We'll have a variety of other crisp, juicy and tasty APPLES.
