1) REMINDER: Meeting with DC Water (formerly WASA) - Tuesday, April 5 at 3 PM

If your business or property is on 18th Street between Florida Avenue and Columbia Road, by now you should have received a letter from DC Water (formerly WASA) about their plans to replace water mains during the 18th Street Reconstruction Project and your options for having the private portion of your water main replaced.
We have scheduled a meeting with DC Water engineers to answer questions you may have about this. They will also be able to answer questions about sewer lines.

The meeting will be TOMORROW:

Tuesday April 5th at 3 PM at the local DDOT project office here in Adams Morgan:

2) Important update on PEPCOs work on the 18th Street Streetscape

For the weeks of April 4, 2011 through April 16, 2011, Pepco will be working on the scheduled 18th Street Streetscape Project. Crews will be working from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  At 4:00 p.m. Pepco will have covered all work nd removed all construction equipment from the street.

This utility work will take place in the following areas:

West side of 2100 Block of 18th Street, NW (Cable Dept.)

West side of 2200 Block of 18th Street, NW, between Wyoming Avenue and Kalorama  Road, NW (Conduit & Cable Dept.)

West side of 2300 Block of 18th Street, NW, between Belmont Street and Kalorama Road, NW (Conduit & Cable Dept. – outage to be rescheduled after 04/06/11 – weather permitting and clearance approval.  Cable removal to follow.)

West side of 2400 Block of 18th Street, NW, between Belmont Street and Columbia Road, NW (Conduit & Cable Dept.)

Cable Dept. to install service cable at the following addresses:

04/04/11 – 2416 18th Street, NW
04/05/11 – 2418 18th Street, NW
04/06/11 – 2420 18th Street, NW
04/07/11 – 2422 18th Street, NW
04/08/11 – 2430 18th Street, NW

Where necessary, PEPCO will have No Parking signs from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Pepco’s work will continue through April 22, 2011. PEPCO will provide an update every two weeks and as requested to the community.

4) Adams Morgan Main Street runs Very Cherry AdMo PopUp Shop – until April 16

Adams Morgan MainStreet is continuing till Saturday, Apr 16, the “Very Cherry AdMo Pop Up Shop”  in the heart of Adams Morgan at 2421 18th Street, NW.   This spontaneous shop in a vacant retail space becomes a shop & exhibit venue where both visitors and locals can find unique items. This colorful, multicultural neighborhood business district hosts all original and hand-made wares for 21 consecutive days & eves; and weekends. 5) Georgetown University's Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) is soliciting donations for fundraiser

On June 7, 2011, Georgetown University’s CLAS Alumni Organization will be hosting its second-annual CLAS Alumni Scholarship Gala to raise funds for the CLAS Alumni Scholarship Fund.  They are currently seeking donations of goods or services – such as food, drinks, music, or raffle prizes (gift certificates). They are a non-profit organization, any donation would be tax-deductible.
In return for your generosity, CLAS Alumni Organization will feature your business as one of the event sponsors – your logo will be prominently displayed at the gala itself and will also be included on all gala-related correspondence.  Since they are partnering with the diplomatic community for this event, this will be an excellent opportunity for any business to reach a vibrant and active Latin America-focused professional and academic community.  In addition, sponsors will be given two complementary tickets to the event itself.
