On Wednesday July 1, business owner in the 2400 and 2300
blocks of 18th Street, NW (east side) meet with Gerard Brown and his
staff from the DC Department of Health Rodent and Vector Control.
The Department of Health (DOH) has drafted a plan entitled
the "Community Hygiene Program" to reduce rodent activity and
enhance community services in the 2400 and 2300 blocks of 18th
Street, NW.
We continued to discuss the plan at a meeting on July 15, 2015
at Grand Central Restaurant.
The next step is to organize an alley clean up for each alley including
power washing. We need each business to participate to make this
successful. Our Clean Team will do the power washing.
Here is the schedule:
Tuesday July 28th - beginning at 10 am - east side of the 2400 and
2300 blocks of 18th Street, the alley affectionately known as 'grease
alley'
Tuesday August 4th - beginning at 10 am - west side of the 2400 block
of 18th Street
What we need businesses to do:
1) have staff available to assist that day and possibly the next day if
the power washing needs to continue
2) make sure your trash hauler has emptied the dumpster before 10
am that day
3) push your dumpster out away from the wall and sweep underneath
4) give the Clean Team access to water so they can then power wash
under your dumpsters
5) push your dumpsters back
Please join us and help reduce rodent activity! Thanks! Any questions please
