1) DC Water Shut off - overnight Monday April 25 into Tuesday April 26
DC Water has notified us and is notifying all affected businesses about a scheduled water shut off on Monday night April 25th at 1:30 am into Tuesday morning April 26th at 6:30 am.
DC Water would like to
perform a test shut on Monday night April 25th in support of the ongoing 18th Street
Streetscape project.
The blocks that will be
affected will be:
1) the east side of the 2400 and 2300 blocks of 18th
Street also 2233 18th Street, NW.
2) Columbia Road between 18th Street
& Ontario Rd. NW from 1742 Columbia Road to 1796 Columbia Road, NW.
They anticipate the test shut
to last for approximately 2 to 4 hours. All affected will receive notification
of the exact amount of time prior to the test shut being performed.
Once the test shut has been
deemed successful the water main will be recharged immediately after. The outage will
cover both sides of Columbia between 18th and Ontario.

Pepco’s work on 18th Street is almost complete.

Pepco’s work
will continue through May of 2011. PEPCO will provide an update every two weeks
and as requested to the community.
4) DDOT announces city-wide pay-by-phone parking
The District
Department of Transportation (DDOT) and Parkmobile announced this week that they are beginning a program
that will allow residents, workers and visitors to use their mobile phones to
pay for parking at all of the approximately 17,000 on-street metered spaces
throughout the District of Columbia.
“We piloted pay by phone
parking in select business districts, with great results, and now we’re ready to
offer this service citywide,” said DDOT Interim Director Terry Bellamy. “It
provides another, convenient payment option for drivers. Instead of paying with
cash or a credit card, all it takes is a couple clicks with the mobile app or a
short phone call and you’re on your way.”
Parkmobile already provides
pay by phone service in the Foggy Bottom, Georgetown Hospital, and Ballpark
areas and will start adding locations around
the District starting in June. Drivers can sign up at
www.parkmobile.com

where
they can also download a mobile app. Once registered, customers can use the
mobile app, the internet, or a phone call to pay for parking. The parking
transactions appear in real time on the handheld devices used by Parking
Enforcement Officers.
The mobile apps for iPhone,
Android, and Blackberry are easy to use. iPhone users will also be able to take
advantage of the GPS functionality, saving up to 5 favorite zones and license
plates. You can quick park in the same zone and parking space that was used the
last time you parked. These additional features are coming soon for Android and

Motorists who signed up with
other pay by phone parking services during the pilot period in the following
areas Dupont Circle, Union Station, downtown on K Street, I Street, and New York
Avenue, NW locations, will want to create a new account with Parkmobile which
has been selected to provide pay by phone service citywide.
