Adams Morgan Partnership Quarterly board meeting

The next Adams Morgan Partnership BID (AMPBID) Board of Directors' meeting will be Tuesday, December 10 from 5-7:00 PM at the Festival Center at 1640 Columbia Rd NW. Hope you can join us! Representatives from the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be in attendance to talk about the micro-mobility pilot project -- an effort to redesign the curbside use to accommodate growing demands for freight and micro-mobility -- being conducted as a cooperative effort between the agency, ANC1C, and the Adams Morgan Partnership.

Marie Reed Fall Fundraising Campaign

The Marie Reed Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is in the midst of their second annual Giving Drive . Building upon last year’s success, they hope you will join them between Tuesday, November 26, and December 10, in their efforts to raise $15,000 for the school, with 100% community participation. Every amount helps.

This year they aim to support Principal Lundgren by funding various initiatives, including:

FoodPrints lessons ($5k)
Afterschool enrichment programming ($4k)
Building beautification ($2k)
Teacher professional development ($3k)
Inaugural Marie Reed swim team ($1k)

Support a local nonprofit with your funds this year, and know that it goes to make a difference in our neighborhood, on our sidewalks, for our neighbors. Not ready to give? Snow Reminder

DC Snow removal mandate ( via DPW ):

DC law requires residential and commercial property owners to remove snow/ice from the sidewalks around their property within the first eight hours of daylight after a storm ends. If the sidewalks are not cleared within 24 hours after the end of a storm, commercial property owners may receive a $150 fine, and residential property owners may receive a $25 fine.

Please do not pile snow around sidewalk trash cans -- it makes them difficult to empty.

Adams Morgan Farmers Market on Saturday

Adams Morgan is home to the longest-running neighborhood farmers market in the city! Visit Licking Creek Bend Farm , RavenHook Bakehouse , Remi's Plants and Flowers and bi-weekly Purple Mountain Grown locally grown organic rice and flour for all your essential weekly needs from 8:00am to 1:00pm, rain or shine, at SunTrust Plaza, 18th Street and Columbia Road NW. Bring your own bags and get your seasonal fruits and vegetables every Saturday through December. Check our Facebook page for each week's produce. There will be some Christmas trees for sale but they could go quickly so go early. You can also order through email .

Composting will be available at the market for the next three weeks.

Compost Crew is zero waste solution company whose mission is to divert organics from landfills/incinerators and instead compost them to revitalize our soils. Come to the market to learn about the benefits of composting and their compost collection services which is similar to the trash and recycling services a local government provides. With Compost Crew, customers sign up to pay for their compost service. For residential customers, the green bins they provide are emptied once a week.

The Adams Morgan Farmers Market is open through December 21.

Your opportunity to influence the District's new Contractor Rating System

The Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) is creating a new, transparent rating system focused on the District's building professionals. You are formally invited t o learn more about the system and provide feedback before it is publicly released. RSVP here to join a focus group to provide feedback about the new system. Please use the password “dcrafocus” to register.

The goal is to help people avoid bad actors and have confidence that the contractors they hire are professionals with proven track records. DCRA is asking a variety of stakeholders, including members of the building community, to share their thoughts on the system.

The invitation is open to the first 15 people.

Private Security Camera Incentive Program

The Private Security Camera Incentive Program , administered by the Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants, encourages residents, businesses, non-profits and religious institutions to install security camera systems on their property and register them with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). This program is intended to help deter crime and assist law enforcement with investigations.

There are two ways to participate:

The Private Security Camera Rebate Program creates a rebate for residents, businesses, nonprofits, and religious institutions to purchase and install security camera systems on their property and register them with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). The program provides a rebate of up to $200 per camera, with a maximum rebate of up to $500 per residential address (e.g., home offices, condo buildings, and apartments) and $750 for all other eligible addresses. The rebate is exclusively for the cost of the camera(s) including any applicable tax.

The Private Security Camera Voucher Program provides a private security camera system to eligible residents free of charge. District residents—either owners or tenants—who receive public assistance may be eligible to have a camera system installed at their home.

New food & beverage workshop series

Calling all food & beverage entrepreneurs! Cureate is launching a new workshop series, Cureate Courses , for growth stage entrepreneurs looking to scale up their business operations. Enrollees will attend 10 workshops at Union Market, each taught by at least one industry expert. Graduates will have the chance to participate in a pitch competition at The Village Cafe for a total of $20K in awards. Applications are open now and close Friday, December 6.

New Fines for Non-Compliance with the DC Commuter Benefits Law

Are you a DC organization with 20 or more employees? The DC Commuter Benefits Law requires businesses (including non-profits) with 20 or more employees (full-time or part-time) in DC to offer commuter benefits. As of November 14th, businesses operating in Washington, DC that are not in compliance with the DC Commuter Benefits Law are subject to fines.

What are the fines for non-compliance?

For the first offense, each month that a business is not in compliance could result in a fine of $100 per covered employee. Repeat offenders would see fines of $200 per employee for the second offense, $400 per employee for the third offense, and $800 per employee for subsequent offenses.
