Robust Retail Citywide Grant

The Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) is excited to announce that we will be accepting applications for the 2022 Robust Retail Citywide Grants. DSLBD intends to award up to $7,500 per business to approximately 78 businesses from the $588,000 in available funding for the Fiscal Year 2022. This grant will be operated as a reimbursement grant, awarded via lottery, to DC retail businesses that have met all eligibility requirements by the final deadline. Discover how to help small businesses build a strong brand

Join CNHED on Tuesday, May 24, from 11am to 1pm at NCRC, 740 15th St, NW 3rd Floor, for the debut of Brandme, a new self-paced, AI-powered brand development tool developed by Madia Brown, Founder and CEO, Brandire, and an ELEVATE graduate. This invite-only event is for small business support organizations, incubators, accelerators and District agencies to learn about how this innovative tool will help small businesses create a full brand from strategy to design. At this event, you'll also have an opportunity to network with and meet new peers. Lunch will be served. You can RSVP HERE !

As you know, entrepreneurs rely on you to help them grow and scale their business. One of the biggest pain points many small business owners have is building a strong brand that attracts their customers and increases their revenue. A new self-pace, AI-powered brand development tool, Brandme, has made it easy for entrepreneurs to build a complete brand — from strategy to design to collateral to action plan — in a fraction of the time and cost, allowing them to go to market and scale sooner.

In this session, you will:

  • Discover a new resource for your toolbox that can offer high-quality branding expertise; and
  • Help guide your clients through the principles of branding while you focus your attention on other areas of need.

Carjacking prevention

How Do I Reduce My Risk of Becoming a Victim?

When you are on the road:

  • ALWAYS keep your doors locked and windows rolled up (if it’s hot and you don’t have air conditioning, roll them up at least part-way) no matter how short the distance you’re traveling or how safe the neighborhood.
  • Drive in the center lane to make it harder for potential carjackers to approach the car.
  • AVOID driving alone. Travel with someone whenever possible, especially at night.
  • When you are coming to a stop, leave enough room to maneuver around other cars, especially if you sense trouble and need to get away.
  • DON’T stop to assist a stranger whose car has broken down. You can help instead by driving to the nearest phone (or using your cell phone) to call police for help.
