18th Street Closure Pilot:

Insurance Requirement Update

There has been much discussion about the insurance requirements to participate in the 18th Street road closure/streetery pilot happening this weekend and we have some good news.

Per Kristen's conversation with DDOT this evening and for this pilot only -- this weekend only:

  1. Businesses can register with a certificate of insurance (COI) for whatever insurance they have - they must submit a COI and they must apply through the Google form to participate. The form is date/time stamped and DDOT/ORM is checking those forms as they come in. This is being done as a 'proof of concept' for the streetery.
  2. We have removed the link to the DC government insurance requirements
  3. If this streetery continues past this weekend businesses MUST have the insurance as required by ORM. They will not be allowed to participate without it. This waiver is a one-time only thing for this weekend.

If you haven't registered yet, go to admodc.org/18th to find information and the registration link.

Also, please remember that DDOT will be setting up barriers on 18th Street tomorrow ahead of the closure, scheduled to start at 3pm on Friday. Pay attention to the 'Emergency No Parking' signs -- there is no parking on that part of 18th Street all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday .
