1) AMPBID Board Meeting - Tuesday May 12 at 5 PM

Just a quick reminder that the May 2015 AMPBID Board meeting will be Tuesday May 12th at 5 pm at the Festival Center at 1640 Columbia Road, NW. Hope you can join us!


Joining us will be Steve Callcott and Anne Brockett from the DC Historic Preservation Office. They will review historic districts and what makes them different for new building and renovation requirements.

2) Adams Morgan Summer Concert Series - continues tomorrow May 9th - wristband discount program along with hula hoops!

We are really excited to be hosting another Summer Concert Series on

Saturdays in May and June. This will be our 7th year rocking out the plaza in

front of BB&T Bank!

The dates will be May 2nd, 9th, 16th , 30th, June 6th and 13th from 5 to 7 pm.

Also on May 16th , there will be a large neighborhood-wide yard sale –

the “Mother of All Yard Sales” according to the organizers. They have agreed

to give the wrist bands to everyone who stops at one of the yard sales too.

This should double the number the people who get wristbands that day.

3) Adams Morgan Movie Nights begin on May 19th

Adams Morgan Movie Nights is back! One of our most popular events of last year just got bigger and better. The series kicks off on May 19th, and continues through June 16th, with five films (up from three last year) screening on Tuesday nights approximately 30 minutes after sundown.

City Bikes is organizing a ride to the movie on May 26th and BicycleSPACE is organizing a ride to the movie on June 2nd. Contact each shop above to join the ride. Many thanks to both shops for hosting the bike valet also.

The Marie Reed School PTA will be hosting the concessions stand with popcorn, candy, refreshments, etc...

Attendees are encouraged to come early, throw down a blanket and enjoy the beautiful Marie Reed School and Rec Center soccer field at 18th and California Street, NW. We will hand out swag bags with treats and offers from local businesses so please contact Joanna Robinson at Lunar Massage if you would like to participate. The bags were very popular last year, so it is worth the effort. We will pass out 150 bags at each movie. First come, first serve. 4) Bike to Work Day - May 15th

Bike to Work Day: The Best Thing on Two Wheels

One of nation’s largest Bike to Work Day celebrations is on Friday, May 15,

brought to you by Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclist

Association (WABA) . Ride with thousands of cyclists, new and experienced,

and enjoy a healthy commute that helps improve traffic congestion and air

quality in the metropolitan Washington region. There will be free T-shirts, food,

beverages and prizes for registrants who attend.

A record-breaking number of cyclists are expected to participate again this

year so register soon here: www.biketoworkmetrodc.org . The first 14,000
commuters who register receive free T-shirts and are automatically entered

into a chance to win one of many bikes donated by REI and BicycleSPACE.

The Adams Morgan Partnership BID is pleased to partner with CityBikes

(hosting the bike safety clinic and donating goods for the raffle including a

brand new bike) and BicycleSPACE and Tryst to host a pit stop in Unity Park at

Columbia/Champlain and Euclid Streets from 7:30 to 9:30 am

welcome to visit any of the 79 pit stops in the DC Metro region along their way

to work. We will have a limited supply of free water bottles and patch kits

if you would like to participate. As of yesterday there are 336 people

registered for our Adams Morgan pit stop.

As part of a regional Employer Challenge, the top five companies with the

most employees registered for Bike to Work Day will be placed into a raffle

for a free catered lunch! The luncheon is exclusive to employees who

participate in this event. When registering, your employees are also invited to

enter for a chance to win a free installed bike rack for your office.

5) Mint Condition Day - June 6th

The @nd Annual MINT Condition Day will be Saturday, June 6th from 9 am to 2 pm on the Marie Reed Soccer Field.

There will be a Moonbounce and kids activities, fresh juices from Puree, free-sample farmer's market, raffles, games and more!

6) DDOT roadway Improvement Project - Calvert Steet between Biltmore and Adams Mill Road, NW

The DC Department of Transportation (DDOT) notified us this week that

beginning on or about Monday May 11th they will be resurfacing the roadway pavement along Calvert Street betwen Biltmore and Adams Mill Road, NW.

It is estimated that this work will take approximately one week to complete,

weather permitting. If weather conditions or schedule changes or

unforeseen issues do not permit the work to begin on Monday, the new start date will be listed on the EMERGENCY NO PARKING signs posted on the poles throughout the construction project site.

Throughout the construction area, at least one lane of traffic will be maintained at all times. Access to the adjacent houses will also be maintained. Curbside parking will be restricted at this location during construction hours. EMERGENCY NO PARKING signs will be posted 72 hours prior to the commencement of construction.

All work will be performed from 7 am to 7 pm, Monday through Saturday.

DDOT thanks the community in advance for their patience during the construction. Any questions or concerns should to to the project engineer,  Mr. Jamal Anwar at 703-992-3692.

7) Power Washing to begin on Wednesday May 13th in "Grease Alley"

During the rat abatement walk through last Friday,it was recommended by Gerard Brown from the Department of Health, that the alley on the east side of 18th Street (from Columbia Road to Kalorama Road) affectionately known as Grease Alley, should be power washed from one end to the other.

Our Clean Team will begin this power washing on Wednesday May 13th. They estimate it should take about a week to do the whole alley. As they work their way through the alley, please help them move the dumpsters out and push them back so they can throughly clean behind each one. New platform for small biz loans -- www.dcsmallbizloans.com -- now available

Yesterday, the Steering Committee of the Small Business Policy Project (SBPP ) launched a new customized web-based lending platform developed by Biz2Credit, Inc. for the SBPP of the Coalition of Housing and Economic Development (CNHED) - www.DCsmallbizloans.com

This tool responds to a recommendation made by the SBPP to increase access to capital for local entrepreneurs and small business owners. Loans are available to DC businesses from $5 to $50,000.

Once you enter the site you can choose from 4 sources of loans including: 1) the Latino Economic Development Corporation (LEDC), 2) the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC), 3) CitiFirst and 4) WACIF.

The debut of this new online platform coincides with National Small Business Week (May 4-7, 2015) - a recognition of the value of entrepreneurs and small businesses.
