We have a brand new event coming up on July 29
and we need as many businesses as possible participating to make it a successful event.
We've gotten approval from the city to close 18th Street between Columbia Rd. and Kalorama Rd. and our plan is to host a food-centric event that features music and art with space set aside for Adams Morgan businesses from other parts of the neighborhood to set up within the closure zone.
Important: this event is not just for food & beverage businesses.
We will have 10x10 spots available for up to 20 Adams Morgan businesses to set up within the closure zone (first come/first served).
There will be no outside vendors at this event
-- it is strictly for the benefit of Adams Morgan businesses.

Project Update For Your Area-Small Diameter Water Main Replacement Project
|
DC Water's Contractor will soon be performing a tie-in of newly installed water main at the intersection of Columbia Road NW and Adams Mill Road NW on Thursday night.
In preparation for Thursday’s water main tie-in, they will need to excavate the roadway at this location and prepare the site. They began performing these preparatory activities Tuesday evening. They will minimize the noise disturbance to the extent possible, maintain proper temporary lighting, and will utilize the approved traffic control plan while working tonight. They will also work to complete these preparatory activities as quickly as possible.
On Thursday, June 29, beginning at 11:00pm, DC Water's Contractor will be working to tie-in newly installed water main at the intersection of Columbia Road NW and Adams Mill Road NW.
This portion of work will take approximately 8 hours to complete, and there will be scheduled water service outage to customers at the following locations during the work

1800 block of Calvert St NW
-
1800 block of Columbia Rd NW (west side only)
All impacted customers at the above listed locations have been notified about this portion of work and scheduled water service outage.

Adams Morgan Moratorium Hearing
|
The Alcoholic Beverage Cannabis Administration (ABCA) will hold a hearing at
10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2023
, to receive public comment concerning the renewal of the Adams Morgan Moratorium Zone. The Board recently extended the moratorium on an emergency basis. It now seeks comment on a resolution adopted by Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 1C that, if approved by the Board, would increase the number of allowable tavern licenses to 25 to be phased in with no more than 4 new tavern licenses per year. The ANC Resolution is available on ABCA’s website www.abca.dc.gov.

⚽ Extended Hours for 2023 Women's World Cup ⚽
|
Eligible licensees may operate 24-hours and sell and serve alcohol between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. during the FIFA 2023 Women's World Cup taking place in Australia and New Zealand between July 20 - August 20, 2023.
To participate, licensees
must register
and pay a non-refundable $100 fee by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 17.
If approved, licensees will be issued a permit that must be posted next to their alcohol license inside the premises.
Note the following:
-
Eligible licensees include On-Premises Retailers, Manufacturers with an On-Site Sales and Consumption Permit, and Temporary License holders.
-
Extended hours start the evening of the first day of the tournament—Thursday, July 20—and end at 4:00 a.m. on the last day—Sunday, August 20.
-
Alcohol sales, service, and consumption are NOT permitted between 4:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Settlement Agreements
and
Board Orders
apply and may affect eligibility.

Registration in ABCA’s
Extended Holiday Hours Program
and previous World Cup application approvals do not extend to the 2023 Women's World Cup.

Approval of extended alcohol service hours does not extend ABC Board approved

Substantial Change Application

Wage Increases Coming July
Reminder: Tipped and minimum wages increase on July 1.
-
In DC, the hourly minimum wage increases to $17.
-
The DC tipped wage increases to $8 an hour.
-
A hearing continues this week for a proposal to defer further increases in the DC tipped wage to 2025, when it would meet minimum wage.

💸 Commercial Property Acquisition Fund (DMPED)
The Commercial Property Acquisition Fund will provide eligible businesses with down payment assistance of up to $750,000 or 25% of the sale price, whichever is less, for the acquisition of commercial property in the District. This year, businesses will need to complete three mandatory sessions in order to apply for the Fund. OPEN now on a rolling basis until funds are expended.
