The Annual Meeting of the AMPBID will be Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 5pm, at the Festival Center at 1640 Columbia Road, NW.
AMPBID Annual Meeting Election Process
At the October 18th Annual Meeting, BID members will have the opportunity to vote for candida
tes for 5 board slots: three property owners and two business owners.
The following board members have agreed to run for another term on the board:

Adam Crain
Bill Thomas
Arianne Bennett
C. Jonathan Wells
AMPBID Annual Meeting Election Process
Each person eligible for election as a member of the Board may be nominated by: 1) the nominating committee, or 2) by a member petition submitted to the Chair of the Nominating Committee (Jonathan Cho) at least 30 days prior to the date of the meeting (so additional nominations should have been received by September 18th); provided that only business owners can nominate business owners and property owners can only nominate property owners and a petition shall require the signature of no less than ten (10) members to nominate a member of the Board. Each nominee either shall be present at the annual meeting or shall consent to such nomination by a written document.
Voting
Per the by-laws, any properties for which BID taxes are over 60 days delinquent, may not vote nor may they nominate members to the board.
For each class of member, the ballot will list all the candidate names, and members will vote for the number of open slots in that category. For example, there are two business owner slots. All members will have the opportunity to vote for two candidates from the list of all business owner candidates.
Proxies
Proxy votes are allowed.
Pursuant to the BID bylaws, those interested in voting in the board elections by proxy can either contact the BID to request a proxy form, or can develop their own form, as long as it includes: the date of the meeting at which it is applicable (October 18) full names, addresses and the dated signatures of both the individual issuing the proxy and the witness(es) to the signature. The proxy voter can be anyone to whom the property or business owner designates to vote for them and DOES NOT have to be a member of the Adams Morgan Partnership BID. All proxy forms must meet all these criteria to be accepted.
The BID will have a proxy form available by fax, mail and by email.

We want your opinions on Metro's SafeTrack Early Closing Plan
WMATA's general Manager Paul J. Wiedefeld has proposed making the current early closing hours for METRO (that were supposed to be in effect only during the SafeTrack Program) permanent. The AMPBID is very concerned about how the plan will negatively impact Adams Morgan businesses, both for their employees and for their customers. We are planning on testifying in opposition to the proposal and want to get as much feedback from the community as possible to help make the case against making the reduced hours permanent.

Working with our friends from the Adams Morgan Farmer's Market, Licking Creek Bend Farms, we're bringing back the Adams Morgan Apple Festival for a second year. Last year's edition was a great success and good times were had by all. In addition to Licking Creek Bend Farm's Annual Heirloom Apple Tasting, we'll once again have an apple pie baking contest with local celebrities on hand to judge.

Peak period parking restrictions on 16th Street during Safetrack
The extended morning and evening rush hour restrictions have been expanded on the 800-8000 block of 16th Street NW which includes the study area (from H Street NW to Arkansas Avenue) for the 16th St. Bus Project. There is a 30 minute rush hour time extension, from the standard rush hour restrictions, in both the morning and evening peak. The expanded rush hour restrictions are from 7-10am and 4-7pm. The expanded rush hour restrictions lengthen the existing parking restrictions, so blocks that were previously AM restricted only are still AM restricted only (not PM), but the time has been extended for 30 minutes. These extensions will be in effect for the duration of Safetrack. DDOT is aware of issues with conflicting signage and working to resolve conflicts on 16th St.
The extension of morning and evening rush hour on 16th St. NW for Safetrack will allow an opportunity to evaluate the impacts of the extension of the peak period parking restrictions that were proposed in phase one of the 16th St. NW Planning Study.

Symposium: Police and Community-Building a Bond of Trust
In response to recent events across the country and local community concerns, the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia is hosting a symposium entitled, “Police and Community-Building a Bond of Trust.” This symposium will be held on October 12, 2016, at the Shiloh Baptist Church, located at 1500 9th Street, NW. The program will begin at approximately 9:30 am and end at 4:30 pm. We are inviting all faith-based leaders, ANC Commissioners, and civic associations’ and non-profit organizations’ leaders to this symposium.
The goal of this program is to educate community and clergy leaders about why the use of force is sometimes a necessary measure for both the public’s and officers’ safety and how alleged excessive use of force cases are investigated by our Office. A secondary goal is to have a facilitated dialogue between law enforcement and community leaders to discuss the various issues that presently exist in our city between law enforcement and citizens.
In order to meet these goals, there will be a panel discussion which will include representatives from the Metropolitan Police Department, U.S. Park Police, Washington Metro Transit Authority Police, D.C. Housing Police, D.C. Office of Police Complaints and USAO-DC. The police departments’ representatives will discuss their efforts to minimize excessive use of force. USAO-DC will provide an overview of how alleged excessive use of force cases are handled by our Office. The D.C. Office of Police Complaints will explain how people can file a complaint when they feel that they have been unfairly treated by a member of law enforcement. During the second half of the program, the Department of Justice Community Relations Service will conduct a group dialogue to brainstorm about problems and propose solutions to issues that both law enforcement and citizens face when interacting. In order to prepare for this dialogue, we are asking community leaders to send in any questions or concerns they have about law enforcement to AUSA Kamilah House at kamilah.house@usdoj.gov by October 5, 2016.

DC Circulator Expands Service for SafeTrack Surges
(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation today announced plans to provide additional hours of operation on the DC Circulator to offset WMATA's SafeTrack service reductions. The expanded service will begin Sunday October 2. This will assist riders during SafeTrack Surge 10, which will eliminate Red Line service between Fort Totten and NoMa from October 29 through November 22, 2016. The expanded DC Circulator service is designed to provide travelers with additional commuting options.
The following changes will be made beginning Sunday, October 2, 2016:
Morning service on the Woodley Park-Adams Morgan-McPherson Square, the Georgetown-Union Station and the Dupont- Georgetown-Rosslyn routes will begin an hour earlier at 6 am Monday through Friday.
Late night service will be extended on the Georgetown-Union Station and the Dupont-Georgetown- Rosslyn routes until 3 am Friday and Saturday instead of 2 am. The Woodley Park-Adams Morgan-McPherson Square will continue to run until 3:30 am. Late night service on the Georgetown-Union Station route will be extended to run the full length of the route. Currently, the bus stops at McPherson Square Metro after 9 pm.

One day left to renew ABC licenses
There's only one day left for District taverns to renew liquor licenses with the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA). The deadline to renew is this Friday, Sept. 30, 2016.
Renewals may only be completed in person at ABRA’s office: 2000 14th St., NW, 4th Floor, Suite 400 South, Washington, DC 20009. ABRA mailed renewal applications to licensees in August. A nightclub licensee that did not receive its renewal application in the mail should contact ABRA as soon as possible by emailing or calling (202) 442-4423.
Applications not returned by the required deadline will be subject to a late fee of $50 per day—not to exceed the cost of the license—and cancellation.
Alcoholic beverage licenses are required to be renewed every three years with all licenses of the same type expiring on the same date.
