Reminder: Sidewalk Cafe hours to be discussed - March 13th at 7 PM

If you have a sidewalk cafe permit or are planning to apply for a public space permit for a sidewalk cafe, please plan on attending the ANC's meeting TODAY March 13th at 7 pm at the Kalorama Recreation Center on Columbia Road, NW. The beginning of the meeting is dedicated to hearing from MPD and their Third District officers. After that there will be a discussion about sidewalk cafe hours.  Please plan on arriving by 7:30 pm for the sidewalk cafe discussion. Thanks.

Reminder: Sober Ride program begins again on Sunday March 17th

Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP)’s 2013 St. Patrick’s Day SoberRide is s cheduled to run on Sunday, March 17, 2013 (St. Patrick’s Day), from 4:00pm to 4:00am on Monday, March 18, 2013.

WRAP’s Safe And Vital Employees (SAVE) program is available free of cost to area businesses.  This 45-minute, customized presentation will inform employees about the physical, economic and legal consequences of impaired driving.

Become a Small Business Mentor...and help a DC entrepreneur launch a successful business

Enterprise DC is a 9-month pilot program that is managed in partnership between the Washington Area Community Investment Fund (WACIF), Byte Back (a local non-profit computer training center) and the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation (GWHCCF).

It combines small business development, business management experience and computer literacy training to help unemployed or underemployed DC residents launch successful businesses.

Now that students have completed the 6-week FastTrac NewVenture course, Enterprise DC is working to match candidates with a DC business and/or a mentor based on the candidate’s area of interest and the business’s need.

An internship can provide invaluable experience in day-to-day operations... and additional workforce to the proprietor at NO COST.

A mentor will help a participant complete his/her business plan—a graduation requirement. Mentors will provide a 3-6 month plan for improvement and will work with participants throughout the remainder of the program to launch their business and help prep them to pitch their business plans.

The hands-on knowledge and advice participants obtain from experienced entrepreneurs will help guide their business future.

When your business hosts an ENTERPRISE DC intern you will provide them an invaluable chance to apply their skills and assist in day to day business operations up close.
