1) Pepco's Harvard Conversion Project Update
Crews are making progress on the Harvard Conversion project. We wanted to provide a quick update on the construction schedule. This week crews will continue to install a new manhole in front of 1682 Columbia Rd., NW. Next week, crews will begin installing new conduit between 1682 and 1720 Columbia Rd., NW.
If you have any questions about any of this information or the project, please let Chris Taylor know and he will be glad to follow up.
As a reminder, the Harvard Conversion project involves increasing capacity of underground feeders from 4kV to 13kV.
To achieve the conversion, new pipes (conduits) must be installed to house the new 13 kV cables. Next, crews will install the new cable. Finally, customers will be transitioned from the old feeder to the new feeder. During this phase of the project, we will construct approximately 4,000 feef of conduit, 11 manholes, and 2 switches. These upgrades will enhance reliability for customers in the area.
Best,
Chris Taylor

Adams Morgan Farmers' Market offerings for Saturday September 6th
ADAMS MORGAN FARMERS MARKET SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 8:00AM - 1:00PM RAIN OR SHINE
We'll have some unusual fruit this Saturday!
On Friday we had a taste test at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, of the huge, end of the season WHITE NECTARINES. Chef Jerald from Johns Hopkins University pronounced the taste "delightfully floral" whereas Chef Jonathan said, "The sweetest, juiciest fruit I've ever tasted"!
Ditto on the last harvest of DONUT (SATURN) PEACHES. They're described as having a "juicy flesh, tinged with red...an excellent, sweet flavor with a hint of almond". There are some wonderful recipes for grilling these peaches with butter and brown sugar.
Also available are some extra-ripe PEACHES for jam, freezing or canning. And, there are one last variety of eating PEACHES called ENCORES. We're unsure of having any more for next Saturday.
We'll have 2 APPLE varieties - GALA (BUCKEYE'S) and HONEYCRISP. Both are early fall APPLES - and this is the time to eat these varieties at their freshest. The varieties that come later in the fall include Goldrush, Jonagolds, Stayman-Winesaps, Nittany's. So enjoy the GALAS AND HONEYCRISPS while we have them.
The coming cooler nights will slow down our excellent TOMATO harvest, so enjoy them now, and (think like squirrels) and stock up for the winter.
We'll run the HEIRLOOM TOMATO sale another week - $2.49/lb for over 3lbs. and .99/lb for 5lbs and over of No. 2's (extra ripe). Come early for these.
Folks are saying that our CHERRY TOMATOES are the most flavorable they've ever tasted!
Also, we'll have lots of PEPPERS, HOT PEPPERS, BEANS, HERBS, ITALIAN AND ASIAN EGGPLANT, OKRA, KALE, and other seasonal goodies.
Don't forget to bring bags, pt and qt containers.
For the past several weeks, we have been enjoying the amazing music of Roy Norris Hill lll a violist ,violinist and native Washingtonian, a graduate of the DC Youth Orchestra, Lavine Shool of Music , National Symphony Youth Fellowship Program and Duke Ellington Shool of the Arts. He attended the Hartt School of Music under the teachings of the renown violist Scott Nickerenz and Larry Dutton of the Emerson String Quartet.
Mr. Hill teaches viola & violin, is a member of Washington Pro Musica, a guest artist at the areas DC markets and numerous landmarks in DC, featured musician at Plymouth Church, Mt Pleasent Baptist Church, Columbia Union College Orchestra, numerous DC area churches, Friday Morning Music Club, the Celebrated String Ensemble, Bach Consort Ensemble, the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center, Soulful Sympony, and taught viola sectionals at the DC Youth Orchestra and the Montgomery Youth Orchestra.
We are fortunate to have him play for us Saturday mornings.
See you Saturday at the market,
Michael, Esther, Charmaine, Kyla, Katrina and Lindsay
