It's one of 26 sculptures that were installed throughout DC, Virginia, and Maryland as part of Art in Bloom, a public art exhibition in celebration of the National Cherry Blossom Festival.

The sculpture will be removed in early June.
Community Grid encourages conversation and interaction as viewers are invited to identify their own location as well as the placement of monumental landmarks throughout Washington, DC. The design creatively weaves together the diversity of DC as an abstract quilt of the nation’s capital city. The DC city street map is a symbol of strength encompassing a patchwork of colors and neighborhoods that connect communities together. This recognizable and iconic city grid celebrates the coming together of people and purpose in a sacred place at a special time, the annual Cherry Blossom Festival.

SBA launches the Community Navigator Pilot Program
|
Yesterday, the U.S. Small Business Administration launched the
Community Navigator Pilot Program
, a $100 million grant program enacted through the American Rescue Plan Act, which will provide counseling, networking and the assistance needed during this time of economic recovery to the nation’s smallest businesses. The program will target small businesses owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, as well as women and veterans.
The SBA will engage with states, local governments, SBA resource partners, and other organizations in targeted outreach efforts. These partners and people in the community are key to this pilot program as they will serve as a two-way information stream, enabling enterprising business owners to receive the help needed from the SBA.

Bus To Expand Late-Night Service, Restore Routes In June
|
Beginning Sunday, June 6, Metro will implement service adjustments to selected bus routes throughout the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia that will restore additional service, expand late-night hours on selected routes and provide more buses, more often on some of the busiest routes. As part of Metro’s recovery plan and as Covid-19 restrictions continue to be lifted throughout the region, changes will increase service to 85 percent of pre-pandemic levels.

In federal relief
, as you know the Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) stopped accepting applications Monday. We are starting to hear from more and more of you that are hearing about the status of your applications, or that you received funding. As you know, the National Restaurant Association, RAMW, and many local and national organizations have been advocating for the fund to be replenished to support the many thousands of applications received that exceed the $28.6 billion the fund started with.
The National Restaurant Association indicated that a replenishment bill is hopefully forthcoming in the next few weeks.
We will keep you updated on progress in this area.
In DC this week, many, including RAMW, are awaiting the Mayor’s delivery of her proposed budget to the Council for the fiscal year. You may remember that the budget process was extended until the end of May to allow for the consideration of federal funds coming down the pike. RAMW and many organizations have advocated for some of those funds to be allocated to relief measures supporting small businesses and the hospitality industry, hit hardest by the effects of Coronavirus closures and restrictions. The budget is expected to be delivered on Thursday and we will share updates with you on any factors affecting or benefitting our industry.
Additionally, ABRA announced that the agency decided to extend the payment deadlines for select alcohol licensees financially impacted by the restrictions implemented to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Third and final license fee payments for the licensure period April 1, 2019-March 31, 2022 now have an official modified payment deadline of 9/30/21. The original deadline was 3/30/21. This applies to the following licenses: Retailer CR/DR, Retailer CH/DH, Multipurpose facility CX/DX, Common Carrier CX/DX, Retailer, Arena CX, Club CX/DX, Caterer.

The deadline for registered on-premises alcohol licensees to obtain an alcohol carry-out and delivery endorsement is now 9/30/21. Additionally, any alcohol establishment that has been approved for a
Games of Skill Endorsement
by the ABC Board must also secure a
Game of Skill Retailer License
from the Office of Lottery and Gaming (OLG) to be able to continue operating the machines on-premises. The deadline to submit an application to OLG (not secure a license) is 6/30/21.

RAMW is hosting an outdoor job fair on Tuesday, 6/15 from 10am-2pm on the plaza of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center
. The job fair is free for restaurant and foodservice employers to register to participate.

Restaurants can bring their own tablecloth, branding, signage, pop-up banners, or other decor to brand your booth. Each Fall and Spring, Empowered Women International, a program of LEDC, graduates 30+ women entrepreneurs from our cohort-based training program, Entrepreneur Training for Success. Their mission is to empower these women through the tool of entrepreneurship so they can monetize their creative or cultural assets, artistic abilities, knowledge, and skills, and become change-makers in their families, communities, and the world.
They are recruiting Spanish speaking* volunteers for a few of the upcoming Entrepreneur Training for Success online classes.

Session 16:
Monday, 6/21/21 Business Plan Feedback (6:30-9:00 pm)
Volunteer Role:
At this point in the 3-month ETS program, the participants are refining their business plan. You will be provided with the business plans of 2-4 women entrepreneurs ahead of time for you to review. During the session, you will be placed in breakout rooms with the entrepreneurs for about 30 minutes to provide your feedback. You will provide feedback and expert advice to the women entrepreneurs.
Session 19:
Wednesday, 6/30/21 Business Pitch Feedback (6:30-9:00 pm)
Volunteer Role:
At this point in the 3-month ETS program, the participants have completed their business plans and are preparing their Pitches for the final Business Pitch event. You will be paired with 2-4 women entrepreneurs in breakout rooms. During the session, you will listen to their business pitch and then provide your feedback and expert advice so that they may improve their pitch for the event.
Session 20:
Wednesday, 7/7/21 Business Pitch Event (6:30-9:00 pm)
Volunteer Role:
This is the final event of the 3-month ETS program, where the participants will be formally presenting their Business Pitch. You will be paired with 2 women entrepreneurs, and you will receive the business plans ahead of time for you to review. During the Business Pitch event, you will listen to their business pitch of the 2 entrepreneurs you were assigned. After their pitches, you will ask them questions for them to further clarify on their business idea for the audience. (This is similar to a Business Pitch competition, however, the participants in this event will not be competing against each other.)

Adams Morgan Farmers Market coming to Unity Park on Saturday, June 5!

On June 5, the beloved Adams Morgan Farmers Market will begin operations at Unity Park in front of The LINE Hotel DC. Unity Park is the triangle park at the confluence of Columbia Rd., Champlain St., and Euclid St., NW. The market is celebrating its 49th year in the neighborhood. The market will be open from 8:30am - 1pm on Saturdays through Christmas.
Parking around the park will be restricted from 5am - 3pm on Saturdays for the market to allow for the vendors' trucks --
cars will be towed if they violate the parking restrictions

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND PRELIMINARY FINDING ON THE RECERTIFICATION OF THE ADAMS MORGAN PARTNERSHIP BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to section 19 of the Business Improvement Districts Act of 1996, effective May 29, 1996 (D.C. Law 11-134; D.C. Official Code § 2-1215.18) (“Act”), the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) will hold a public hearing on the recertification of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District.
The public hearing will be held at 2:00 pm on
Monday, June 21, 2021 in Suite 850N, 441 4th Street NW, Washington, D.C.
DSLBD Director Kristi Whitfield has informed the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District that the filing criteria set forth in D.C. Official Code § 2-1215.18 have been met and their application is otherwise in conformity with the Act.
The BID application is available for review by the public during normal business hours on weekdays at 1640 Columbia Road, N.W., in the offices of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District; and by the public online at:
