The next Adams Morgan Partnership BID (AMPBID) Board of Directors' meeting will be Thursday, September 13th, 2012 at 5 PM at the MPD Third District Headquarters in the Snyder Conference Room on the first floor at 1620 V Street, NW.

Annual Meeting - October 11

The Annual Meeting of the AMPBID will be Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 5pm, at the Third District Police Headquarters, 1620 V Street, NW. Postcards were mailed to all property owners and business owners earlier this week.

AMPBID Annual Meeting Election Process

At the October 11th Annual Meeting, BID members will have the opportunity to vote for candidates for 5 board slots: three property owners and two business owners. The board members currently holding those positions have been renominated for another term and have agreed to serve if elected.

Those are:

·         Matt Wexler – Pharmacy Bar 2337 18th Street and Crumbs and Coffee 2700 Ontario Rd - property owner

·         Kurt Meeske – Combined Properties – CVS Pharmacy, 7-11 and Game Stop 1755 - 1759 Columbia Road – property owner

·         Louis Courembis – Southern Hospitality 1815 Adams Mill Road – property owner

·         Constantine Stavropoulos –  Tryst 2459 18th Street and The Diner 2453 18th Street – business owner

·         Brian Vasile – Grand Central 2447 18th Street – business owner

AMPBID Annual Meeting Election Process

Each person eligible for election as a member of the Board may be nominated by: 1) the nominating committee, or 2) by a member petition submitted to the Chair of the Nominating Committee (Arianne Bennett) at least 30 days prior to the date of the meeting (so additional nominations must be received by September 11); provided that only business owners can nominate business owners and property owners can only nominate property owners and a petition shall require the signature of no less than ten (10) members to nominate a member of the Board. Each nominee either shall be present at the annual meeting or shall consent to such nomination by a written document.

Voting

Per the by-laws, any properties for which BID taxes are over 60 days delinquent, may not vote nor may they nominate members to the board.

For each class of member, the ballot will list all the candidate names, and members will vote for the number of open slots in that category. For example, there are two business owner slots. All members will have the opportunity to vote for two candidates from the list of all business owner candidates.

Proxies

Proxy votes are allowed.

Pursuant to the BID bylaws, those interested in voting in the board elections by proxy can either contact the BID to request a proxy form, or can develop their own form, as long as it includes: the date of the meeting at which it is applicable (October 11) full names, addresses and the dated signatures of both the individual issuing the proxy and the witness(es) to the signature. The proxy voter can be anyone to whom the property or business owner designates to vote for them and DOES NOT have to be a member of the Adams Morgan Partnership BID. All proxy forms must meet all these criteria to be accepted.

The BID will have a proxy form available by fax, mail and by email.

DDOT announced beginning October 1 only electronic submission of materials for public space permits

DDOT has announced that beginning October 1st of this year, all applications for public space permits must include an electronic submission of all required materials. This can be performed through the Document Upload feature of DDOT's Transportation Online Permitting System (TOPS).
Electronic submission is a convenient and safe method which will ensure that all applications are processed in a complete and efficient manner. The feature also provides an automatic document retention system, which prevents the loss of plans and the ability to retrieve plans automatically, automatic indexing, and accepts documents in a variety of formats.
DDOT will host training for all persons interested in using this innovative feature of its cutting edge program. Announcements of training dates and times will be announced soon. Click here for more information.

Small Business Summit - September 28th - first 10 Adams Morgan businesses to respond go for FREE!

Councilmember Vincent B. Orange, Sr., Chair of the Committee on Small and Local Business Development, in partnership with Mayor Vincent C. Gray, the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD), the DC Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce invite you to the Small Business Summit on September 28th at the Hamilton Restaurant, 14th and F Streets, N.W. and the John A. Wilson Building located at 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.

Mayor Vincent C. Gray has been invited to highlight his vision for a diversified and resilient District economy including a thriving small business community. Barbara Lang , President/CEO of the DC Chamber of Commerce, and Angela Franco , President/CEO of the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, both sponsors of the Summit, will highlight how their organizations work with and assist the small business community. Deputy Mayor Victor Hoskins will share insights on economic development in the District; DSLBD Director Harold Pettigrew will explain the services available through DSLBD.

Keynote luncheon speaker Dr. Stephen Fuller, will discuss how the economic forecast for the District of Columbia might impact your business.

Each participant will attend the breakfast plenary session and luncheon at the Hamilton Restaurant; and the four panel sessions and closing session at the John A. Wilson Building.
