New front page on our website at ADMODC.ORG

We have installed a temporary front page on our website with information and links people can use to help our Adams Morgan businesses. There are links to all the restaurants in the neighborhood that offer online gift cards as well as a list of all the businesses that are still open for carryout and delivery. Please verify that the information for your business is accurate and send any changes to bbarrie@admodc.org .

Important message and request for help from RAMW

From the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW):

Dear Operators,

In a rapidly changing environment, my focus right now over the next 48 hours is getting you (operators) immediate relief, in some form or fashion, and as quickly as possible.

We are also working on efforts to able to position you for when we are in a recovery phase, down the road, and enacting gradual steps for full operations.

Please know that RAMW is part of conversations on the hour, every hour, with regional leaders who can help.

What is imperative is that you fill out this survey RIGHT NOW. It is quick, incredibly necessary, and timely.

PLEASE TAKE 2 MINUTES to do what will help us get relief for this local industry. We need data ASAP.

Update on SBA Disaster Loans

Update: There will be a loan deferral for a year so business can have working capital more immediately and for longer - without having to worry about debt repayment until next year.

DC businesses can start the process by clicking here and then “Apply for Assistance.” You can prepare to apply by reviewing the “ Three Step Process ” of SBA Disaster Loans to understand what to expect in the application process. Disaster loan applicants can call the SBA Disaster Assistance Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 (7 am -9 pm every day) or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov for help in completing their online application. SBA staff and its Resource Partner network, consisting of Small Business Development Centers, SCORE Chapters, Women’s Business Centers, and Veterans Business Outreach Centers will continue to support small businesses with accessing federal resources and navigating their preparedness plans. Local assistance can be found at www.sba.gov/local-assistance . DC businesses can also download the 2020 Small Business Resource Guide for the Washington Metropolitan Area as a resource.

Update on small business grants from DMPED

On Tuesday, DC Council passed and Mayor Bowser signed emergency legislation to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic, including availability of grants to help small businesses. Those grants will be administered by the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED).

DMPED expects to have details on requirements and how to apply available by Friday evening and expect to have an online portal open for applications by Monday or Tuesday. Grant applications will be available in English and Spanish. We will post more information as it becomes available.

Note: Completing paperwork for the SBA Disaster Loans (see above) will enable applicants to have on hand materials and information the City will need on grant applications so this is a good first step.

Small Business Virtual Workshops

Beginning March 19, the DCRA Small Business Resource Center (SBRC) will be offering virtual, over-the-phone webinars and one-on-one consultations focused on helping District entrepreneurs open businesses and navigate the regulatory process. There will be no in-person consultations until after the public health emergency has ended.

These opportunities are geared towards future and current business owners looking to conduct business in the District of Columbia. Through these sessions, participants will learn how to register their business (i.e. Limited Liability Company, Corporation, Non-Profit, etc.) and the basic steps of obtaining a business license.

"Buy Restaurant Bonds" campaign encourages customers to support restaurants by gift card purchases

The Adams Morgan Partnership is trying to help restaurants and bars that have forced to close or severely limit their services by encouraging customers to purchase gift cards for future dining. We are trying to make a splash with this campaign -- modeled after the Buy War Bonds campaigns of WWI and WWII -- to help draw attention to our 100+ restaurants and employees that are facing an uncertain future.
