Adams Morgan PorchFest Returns October 6

Adams Morgan PorchFest returns October 6, bringing more than 40 bands to porches and stoops throughout Adams Morgan. We are still looking for musicians, singers, and bands who are interested in participating. Please note this is an unpaid gig, but Adams Morgan PorchFest reaches thousands of visitors online and at the event. This year: join a new after-party jam session! Apple Pie Bakers Needed

Volunteer for Casey Trees’ Biggest Season Yet

From September 8 to December 21, 2018 Casey Trees — with volunteer support — will plant and inventory more than 2,000 new trees at more than 30 sites across all eight wards of D.C. through its flagship Community Tree Planting (CTP) and Park Inventory programs, which provides tools, technical assistance, and trees when needed, at no cost to participating sites. This season will almost double prior re-treeing numbers and is the longest and largest by volume in our 15-year history. Find details and a schedule at caseytrees.org/events . $50K Great Streets Grants Due Oct. 22

The Deputy Mayor's Office of Planning & Economic Development has posted the FY19 Great Streets Grant Application, which provides up to $50,000 for interior, exterior and equipment improvements, and marketing for eligible businesses. Hearing for Tipped Wage Workers Act on Sept. 17

The DC City Council will hold a hearing on September 17 at 11:00 AM in Room 500 on Bill 22-913, Tipped Wage Workers Fairness Amendment Act of 2018. The stated purpose of this bill is "to repeal Initiative 77, 'The Minimum Wage Amendment Act of 2018." Tax Rate Changes Take Effect October 1

ABRA Safekeeping Extensions Due October 1

Any licensee with a liquor license being held in safekeeping will need to request an extension by Monday, Oct. 1 in order to maintain the license's status. Safekeeping is required for any alcoholic beverage license that is temporarily discontinued for any reason. Request an extension from the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board via email abc@dc.gov or at 2000 14th St., NW, Suite 400 South, Washington, DC 20009.

MPD Offers Rebates or Vouchers for Security Cameras

The Private Security Camera Incentive Program, administered by the Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants, encourages residents, businesses, non-profits and religious institutions to install security camera systems on their property and register them with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). This program is intended to help deter crime and assist law enforcement with investigations. Read more about the program here .
