AdMo Art Walk
, a new way to experience art brought to you by the Adams Morgan Partnership BID, the
DC Arts Center

Walk the streets of Adams Morgan and admire an impressive selection of artworks displayed in various storefronts in a self-guided walking tour starting April 10 and continuing through May 6.

April AMPBID Board Meeting
|
The next board meeting of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District (AMPBID) will be on Tuesday, April 12 at 5pm via Zoom. In addition to regular business, we will be joined by Kevin Harrison from DDOT to discuss the Columbia Road Bus Priority Project. Topics discussed will include: Progress Update, Needs Assessment Findings, Bus Priority Toolbox, and more. There will be opportunity to ask questions.
This is especially important for Columbia Road businesses.
The board will also elect a new executive committee.

this year! Join us monthly starting on Sunday, April 24 for a free children’s story time in Unity Park! We'll be set up in Unity Park on the last Sunday of every month from April through October at 11am.
The goal of Drag Queen Storytime is to inspire a love of reading, while teaching deeper lessons on diversity, self-love and an appreciation of others. Visit

Art show at The Silva through April 10
|
The Silva Gallery x Latela Curatorial is excited to announce the solo exhibition Folks by Samuel Miranda. Miranda’s Folks exhibition is inspired by the rich stories of the folks in the Mount Pleasant “barrio”; as well as the stories he’s encountered during his travels to Madrid and Havana. By seeking out and building close relationships with musicians and artists resident in the community, Miranda is initiated into the local culture, given passage into each community’s history, and given permission to excavate memories and stories.

Small Diameter Water Main Replacement Project Coming to Adams Morgan
|
As part of its Capital Improvement Program, DC Water is replacing existing 12-inch and smaller cast iron water mains in various locations throughout the city. Construction for this project will occur in the Adams Morgan neighborhood over the next few months. These efforts will help improve water quality and system reliability, increase water pressure in some areas, and maintain adequate flows throughout the system. Construction map

Load your bike on the bus
|
Hello Spring! The weather is refreshing and it’s a great time to get out on your bike. All DC Circulator buses are equipped with sturdy bike racks on the front of the bus to help you make your connections in and around the city. The racks hold up to two bicycles, and you can load your bike in just five easy steps:

Inform the bus driver that you are going to load your bicycle and then proceed to the foldable rack on the front of the bus.

Grasp the handle at the top of the rack; squeeze and pull it down until it clicks.

Lift the bicycle onto the rack, placing it into one of the slots. There is a spring-loaded support arm attached to each bike space.

Place the front wheel of the bicycle pointing toward the support arm and pull the bar up and over the front tire. As you ride comfortably on the bus to your next stop, do not forget that your bike is on the front of the bus.

As you exit, again let the driver know that you will be removing your bicycle from the rack. Lower the support arm and raise the bicycle rack back up to the front of the bus.

Wage increases coming July 1
|
Beginning July 1, 2022, the minimum wage in the District of Columbia will increase from $15.20 per hour to $16.10 per hour for all workers, regardless of the size of the employer.
The base minimum wage for tipped employees will increase from $5.05 per hour to $5.35. However, if an employee’s hourly tip earnings (averaged weekly) added to the base minimum wage do not equal the District’s full minimum wage, the employer must pay the difference.
Living Wage

Effective January 1, 2022 until June 30, 2022, the living wage rate is $15.50
-
Effective July 1, 2022, the District’s Minimum Wage and Living Wage will increase to $16.10.

Bike To Work Day 2022 Registration is Live
|
The League of American Bicyclists began Bike to Work Day as part of Bike Month in 1956. Over the years, Bike to Work Day has grown into a widespread event with countless bicyclists taking to the streets nationwide in an effort to get commuters to try bicycling to work as a healthy and safe alternative to driving alone. In the Metropolitan Washington region, Bike to Work Day has grown from a small group of a few hundred in 2001 to an all-time high of 18,700 participants in 2017.
The Adams Morgan pit stop will be at Unity Park again this year. Adams Morgan regularly has one of the highest registration rates in the city and we plan on having refreshments and other goodies available to riders in addition to the free t-shirt. We'll be updating you with more information as the event gets closer.
