Adams Morgan Apple Festival and Pie Contest is on Saturday
|
The
Adams Morgan Apple Festival
will be held on
Saturday October 26, 2019 from 10:30am to 1pm
at SunTrust Plaza. The festival is a collaborative effort between the Adams Morgan Partnership and the Adams Morgan Farmers Market.
This year will also mark the 5th annual Apple Pie Contest with proceeds from slice sales benefiting
Platform of Hope
. Also, don't forget the free Heirloom Apple tasting at 10:30am, presented by Michael Tabor of the Licking Creek Bend Farm.

WRAP’s 2019 Halloween SoberRide campaign
|
WRAP’s 2019 Halloween SoberRide campaign is scheduled to run from 10:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26th until 4:00 a.m. Sunday, October 27th, 2019. WRAP’s SoberRide program is one of the nation’s most successful free safe rides programs for would-be impaired drivers. However, prevention is essential for keeping our highways safe during high-risk holidays.
AMPBID staff will be distributing SoberRide cards and posters during the week leading up to the holiday.

Nominations for Mayor's Arts Awards now open
|
Last month, Mayor Bowser announced the return of the Mayors Arts Awards! These awards will honor individuals, groups, nonprofit organizations, or private entity contributions in the arts. There is also an "Excellence in the Nightlife Economy" award category! You can nominate bars, clubs, entertainment venues and nightlife promoters. The deadline is Friday, November 1st, 2019.

Marie Reed Elementary School is a Title I arts-focused, dual language (Spanish-English) school that serves over 450 children in PreK3-5th grade. The Universal Paid Leave Amendment Act of 2016 provides up to eight weeks of parental leave for workers in DC to bond with a new child, six weeks of family leave to care for an ill family member with a serious health condition, and two weeks of medical leave to care for one’s own serious health condition.

Sign Up for Required Training Under Tipped Workers Fairness Act

, are hosting a required training under the Tipped Workers Fairness Act (Repeal of 77) on Tuesday, October 29th at 2pm at Church Hall (1070 Wisconsin Ave, NW).
The Tipped Workers Fairness Act mandates that before the end of the year, managers are required to attend an in-person training on the requirements of this Act. Each owner must also offer its employees the opportunity to attend an in-person or online training on the requirements of this Act. Certification of the completion of the training must be provided to Department of Employment Services before December 31st of each year. RAMW will provide certification for each attendee.
