Drag Storytime Sunday At Unity Park
|

for the final
Drag Storytime
of the year! The event will take place in Unity Park directly across from
The LINE DC
(the triangle park at Columbia, Euclid, and Champlain Streets). Sebastian Katz will be reading stories about love, inclusion, and friendship… books that the entire family will enjoy!
DC Public Library
will be joining us too. Don't forget to make a brunch or lunch reservation at one of the many nearby restaurants, go shopping, visit a salon, and continue supporting our local businesses.

Adams Morgan Fall PorchFest:
Saturday, November 2
|
DC's favorite neighborhood music festival returns on Saturday, November 2. We're still doing some last-minute tweaking of the lineup but we're on course for over 100 bands on 23 stages -- this will be the biggest PorchFest we've ever done!
⚠️Just Added:
Blues rock musician,
Huntley
, winner of season 24 of NBC's The Voice was just added to this year's lineup of nearly 100 other acts showcasing some of DC’s best musical talent across genres. Huntley, who was coached by One Direction's Niall Horan, has been performing across the country and writing new singles since his win.
Make plans to be in Adams Morgan on November 2 from 2pm - 6pm for an amazing variety of live music, great food & drinks, specials from several dozen businesses, and yes,
18th Street will be closed to vehicle traffic

We are still looking for Adams Morgan PorchFest volunteers!
The event will take place on Saturday, November 2nd. We have just launched our Call for Volunteers, which you can
find here
. For this event, we have two different volunteer positions, and each one has two shift options:
1) Headquarters Volunteer:

First Shift: 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
-
Second Shift: 3.15 to 6.30 p.m.
2) Porch Volunteer
-
First Shift: 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
-
Second Shift: 4.00 to 6:30 p.m.
Volunteers will receive a free PorchFest Volunteer t-shirt and will have access to our event green room where non-alcoholic refreshments and snacks will be served. We hope to see you there, this event could not take place without our amazing team of volunteers!

The Human Piece Story - A New, Unique Podcast that promotes volunteerism through storytelling
|
Upcoming podcast will be recorded in Adams Morgan at The LINE DC
The Human Piece Story podcast is an upcoming fun & informative weekly conversational series that promotes the act of volunteerism through storytelling. Specifically, the podcast highlights experiences of volunteers through their personal stories. Our Host—a former international volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, and longtime resident of Adams Morgan—will swap stories with volunteers who've served with both national organizations like: Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, Habitat etc., as well as smaller, local organizations. Guests of the podcast will share what it truly means to be a volunteer: the joys, challenges, rewards and lessons learnt from volunteering. On each weekly half-hour episode, listeners will be treated to informative tidbits about where and how to seek out volunteer opportunities. Special episodes will feature leaders of non-profit Org.'s, who will educate/inform listeners of their volunteer programs.
**The host is seeking sponsorships from local businesses to help propel the podcast as it moves through the launch and operational stages. Public Space Committee Hearing on November 14
The draft guidelines outline new design requirements and permit processes that all food establishments will need to follow once adopted.
DDOT plans to present the draft guidelines to the
Public Space Committee
(PSC) on November 14th
at a Special Hearing. The Hearing will be public and will include an opportunity for public comment. DDOT will also be leading a series of targeted stakeholder information sessions to walk through the proposed guidelines in more detail.
If you currently have an active temporary streatery permit (e.g., Parklet or Other Special Event), DDOT will extend your permit from December 31, 2024 to July 31, 2025. This extension is meant to allow you to time to apply for a new public space permit from DDOT under the permanent program and bring your streateries into compliance with the new guidance, while still able to operate under your current plan.
Adams Morgan businesses with streateries should sign up to testify at the PSC meeting -- this is your chance to voice any concerns you have about the proposed guidelines.

The DC Parking Cashout Law reporting dashboard is now open! All District employers with 20+ covered employees must report their compliance with or exemption from the law by January 15, 2025.
If you've never reported before, you’ll need to determine if you qualify for an exemption or if you need to choose and implement one of the compliance options below.
