Board Election Update

Voting has been extended until 5:00pm today.

THE ELECTION

The 2021 Adams Morgan Partnership BID (AMPBID) Board of Directors election is being conducted via online voting. Voting began at 5pm on Tuesday, March 9 and will end today (Thursday, March 11) at 5pm.

PROBLEM WITH PAPER BALLOTS

All members of the AMPBID should have received a paper ballot with a voting access code that was unique to them in the mail along with voting instructions and a proxy form. There was an unfortunate glitch on the part of our online voting vendor, ElectionBuddy, that caused the access codes that had already been mailed to be overwritten by new access codes. There was no indication that there was a problem and therefore we were unaware of the situation until voting commenced at 5pm on Tuesday. At 5pm an email went out to voters for whom we had email addresses in the system with a link for them to vote -- that link worked as it should but the paper ballots did not. As soon as the issue was identified, we downloaded the list of voter keys and began to send them to voters as they reported problems.

Due to the late hour, we weren't able to touch base with ElectionBuddy technical support until the next morning, but at that time they took full responsibility for the problems, refunded us the cost of the election, and have been working with us to make it right. Aside from the glitch, we've had nothing but positive reviews of the online voting process -- it literally only take a few seconds to vote and on this end, we are able to see who has voted (but not who they voted for).

The paper mailing we sent out had our contact info in the event of a problem, and our voters have been using that to get in touch with us. We are in turn sending them a new link with which to vote, and overall participation has been very good (17% and climbing).

THERE IS STILL TIME TO VOTE

When the problem was discovered during our annual meeting on Tuesday night, the board decided to extend voting for an additional 24 hours to allow more time for people to vote. Voting will end at 5pm today. If you have not yet voted, please do so. If you need a link with which to vote, please contact Brian Barrie as soon as possible via email or call/text at 202-536-9515.
