Situational awareness tonight for businesses in Adams Morgan and in coming days
First let me begin with our hearts are very heavy. We know that people are incredibly emotionally charged given the environment in our city and country. We are all devastated and feeling the pain from the injustice experienced in the death of George Floyd. It is unacceptable on every level. And while it is unfortunate that our city is one of the many cities experiencing this (and all the complexities of Phase One reopening), safety should be our priority and we must take that into consideration to prevent additional damage.
Here are some recommendations:

The conditions with the protests are changing very quickly. The notes below are meant to be suggestions but not a mandate.

You may want to change your operations including closing early.

The target to date (also can change quickly) has included banks, high end retail, national retail like CVS. The graffiti seen has said "The rich can't hide". If you see any of this phase please alert the email address

Please take appropriate action to secure your property when closing including bringing in all objects which can easily be used as projectiles or are easily movable - tables, chairs, trash cans, planter boxes, loose bricks, close up garages, and secure construction sites, etc...Chain everything down as much as possible.

You may want to board up windows during overnight hours.
