1) AMPBID Marketing Meeting tomorrow - March 15th

The next meeting of the AMPBID Marketing Committee is TOMORROW Tuesday March 15 at 2 PM at the AMPBID offices at 1802 Belmont Road, NW. Please let Kristen know if you are coming so we are sure to have enough room to accommodate everyone. New faces and new ideas are always welcome.

Under old business is: launching the new Iphone application, planning for lighting and banners on the street during the upcoming construction, redoing the bus shelter posters, distributing more Welcome Packets for new businesses and new residents, and the new website. Under new business, we'll talk about the upcoming Very Cherry AdMo PopUp Shop and other projects we are working on with Adams Morgan Main Street as well as hosting a pit stop for Bike to Work Day on May 20th.

3) Very Cherry AdMo PopUp Shop -March 27th through April 10

Where Arts & Retail Meet – Adams Morgan hosts a “Very Cherry Pop Up Shop”

The Adams Morgan Partnership BID is pleased to be supporting Adams Morgan Main Street's Spring partnership with the National Cherry Blossom Festival.  This colorful, multicultural neighborhood business district hosts performance art, local retail, original art, and crafts all under one roof at 2421 18th St NW.

The “Very Cherry AdMo Pop Up Shop,” located in the heart of Adams Morgan, is a temporary urban shop and exhibit venue where both visitors and locals can find unique items. It runs March 27 – April 10 for 15 consecutive days & eves; including 3 weekends.

The “Very Cherry Admo Pop Up Shop” 2421 18th St NW, Washington, DC 20009 features cultural & arts exhibits, demos, and performances for kids & adults.  Sample unique retail & art finds at this spontaneous shop which is open to the public, March 27 till April 10;  Sun-Thurs: Noon till 9pm;  Fri – Sat: 11am till 10pm.

A Closing Reception & Wine Tasting will be held at April 10; 6:00-8:00pm at Savour Restaurant & Wine Bar, 2408 18th St NW, Washington, DC 20009 on April 10, 6-8pm.

Themed highlights include a Shishi Dog for Opening Ceremony and Cherry Ribbon Cutting on Sunday, March 27, a Kabuki Dance Troupe, origami and decorative Kimonos. Visitors can shop for family, friends, colleagues and furry friends for everything from wearable art, accessories, jewelry, to fine art, paintings, photography and sculpture. Check often for surprise additions to the mix. The retail show/shop will rotate as different artisans and activities are featured.  The opening reception will feature food from Asian themed restaurants such as Wok & Roll, Perry’s, and Saki.

The Very Cherry AdMo PopUp Shop showcases a calendar of events which includes free entertainment, workshops, demonstrations and special activities for kids.  Check in for info on artists, exhibits, and exact times,which will be updated on an ongoing basis at: www.AMMainStreet.org .

4) Update on the 18th Street Construction - PEPCO and DDOT

Check out the "News and Updates" section of the www.adamsmorganstreetscapeproject.com website for the construction schedule and also the gallery page for photos of the progress.

The PEPCO work is wrapping up soon but....for the weeks of March 14, 2011 through March 26, 2011, Pepco will be working on the scheduled “Adams Morgan Streetscape Project” on 18th Street in Adams Morgan.  Crews will be working from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  At 4:00 p.m. Pepco will have covered all work and removed all construction equipment from the street.

This utility work will take place in the following areas:

•         West side of 2400 Block of 18th Street, NW, between Belmont Road and Columbia Road, NW

•         West side of 2000 Block of 18th Street, NW (conduit & cable work)

•         West side of 2200 Block of 18th Street, NW, between Wyoming Street and Belmont Street, NW (cable work)

Where necessary, PEPCO will have No Parking signs from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Pepco is doing this work in preparation for the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) reconstruction of 18th Street in Adams Morgan –which has just begun. This DDOT construction will widen sidewalks, improve pedestrian safety, install new streetlights, add street trees, and improve bus and commercial loading.
