The next meeting of the AMPBID Board of Directors is Tuesday June 11th at 5 pm at the MPD Third District Headquarters - 1620 V Street, NW in the Snyder Conference room on the first floor.

Angelo Rao and his colleagues at DDOT will return to update us on curbside metered parking and other parking related issues per our meeting on April 9th and again on April 16th. They will be there at 5:30 pm.

Bradley and his colleague Kim will: (1)brief us about the DC-BEMOC (District of Columbia Business Emergency Management Operations Center),  (2) solicit nominations for the sector leaders and (3) begin taking applications for membership. They are only recruiting members at this time from the six (6) sectors they identified for the roll out: food, financial, healthcare, fuel, hospitality, and transportation.

The DC BEMOC is a year round operation providing the private sector with training and best practice development programs that focus on disaster planning, response and recovery.

Adams Morgan won technical assistance program with the Office of Planning

We are very pleased that the DC Office of Planning has selected Adams Morgan to participate in the DC Vibrant Retail Streets Technical Assistance program.

The Adams Morgan Partnership BID put together a proposal along with a team of people to participate in this technical assistance program offered by the DC Office of Planning.  We are looking forward to better understanding the area’s starting point on the vibrancy scale, its market demand, potential and obstacles, and then identifying solutions and next steps for our project team.

Adams Morgan was one of 10 neighborhoods chosen in a competitive process for this technical assistance with funding from the Office of Planning. Many thanks to all of those who contributed to the application.

Congresswoman Norton's Small Business Fair - TOMORROW - June 4

Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton is hosting a Small Business Fair only for DC businesses and residents TOMORROW Tuesday June 4th from 8 am to 4 pm at the Washington Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Place (between 7th and 9th Street, NW).

The plenary session will feature SBA Director Antonio Doss who will speak about how the SBA can help you! There will also be remarks from the Small Business owner of the year on how he learned to succeed as a small business in DC.

Additionally, there will be one-on-one counseling with MORE THAN 60 EXPERTS on how to make your business successful including:

Fifth Annual Adams Morgan Summer Concert Series - June 1 to July 6th - opportunities for businesses

Call out to ALL Adams Morgan businesses:

PLEASE CONSIDER OFFERING A SINGLE-DAY DISCOUNT AND ATTRACT ALL OUR SUMMER CONCERT GOERS TO YOUR STORE OR RESTAURANT.

Would increased foot traffic and more customers on summer Saturdays be music to your ears? If so, you will be thrilled to hear about a new initiative we will be putting into place for the summer, starting with the June 1 kickoff concert by crowd favorite Kid Goat.  For the very first time, every concertgoer will be able to receive a same-day promotion in participating businesses if s/he attended our concert.  We would like you to offer a promotion so that visitors feel welcome and truly encouraged to frequent our businesses.

As you know, in each of the past 4 years, our summer concerts have drawn hundreds of people to the neighborhood each summer Saturday.  Before and after the concert, and during intermission, we always encourage concertgoers to shop and eat in Adams Morgan. Still, it was a bit of a mystery to know who did stick around, since we couldn't track them.

Finally, this year, we will prove that you can lead a horse to water AND make them drink!

We have come up with a way to not just bring visitors to our community to hear the concert, but also to encourage attendees to visit our best businesses.  All concertgoers will receive a distinctive red paper wrist band at the concert.  Upon presenting this wrist band in participating businesses, the concertgoer will be entitled to a special discount available just that day, and only to concertgoers with the wrist band.

This is where you come in.

The more discounts our businesses offer, the more attractive the wrist band, and concert attendance, will be. You shape the deal--a percentage off, a "buy X get Y" deal, perhaps a freebie for concertgoers with any purchase.  Just make it persuasive, so our concertgoers, their toes still tapping, will boogie on down to your business to spend their hard-earned dollars.

We will also hand out a complete list of all businesses offering some kind of special (along with details about the special) at the concert each week.

DDOT to host Semi-Annual Circulator Bus Forum - June 18th

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is hosting a semi-annual public forum for the DC Circulator on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 .

At the forum DDOT will solicit feedback from passengers on the strengths and weaknesses of the bus system to ensure the DC Circulator continues to meet the needs of current and future riders.

The Circulator's route performance, future route extensions and potential fare increase are among the various items that will be presented and discussed at this forum.
