Join the Board of Directors
|
The Adams Morgan Partnership BID (AMPBID) annual meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 14.
Board Elections:
AMPBID holds elections every year at our annual meeting in March. The board consists of 15 seats, nine of which are reserved for commercial property owners and six for business owners. Board members are elected to serve three-year terms (unless they are replacing a board member who resigned before the end of their term). This year's election will be for 6 positions on the Board of Directors (4 property owners and 2 business owners).

There are two ways to become a board member nominee: 1) Through a nominating petition, as per the process in our bylaws, those will be accepted until February 2nd. Nominating petitions for board members must be submitted to Kristen Barden, Executive Director, at least 40 days prior to the date of the annual meeting (February 2, 2023). Petitions must have the signatures of at least 10 AMPBID members or 2) through the AMPBID’s nominating committee. The committee will present their slate of candidates at the February 14 monthly board meeting.
Postcards with information about the AMPBID Annual Meeting will be mailed to all AMPBID members soon. Ballots for the election will be send in mid-February after the Nominating Committee presents their slate of candidates.

Coming Attractions:
The lack of an actual start date for increasing DC’s tipped wage to $6 an hour has been confusing for everyone. But the wait may soon be over.

Recap:
Initiative 82’s drafters wrote the measure for the June 2022 primary and set the increase for six months following that vote. Legal challenges moved the initiative to the fall ballot, but the language went unchanged. Additionally the measure still must undergo the usual congressional review period.

Expect word on a date
to come later this week or early next.
DC Stands for District of Comebacks:
Mayor Bowser released her five-year
economic development plan
, with a focus on equity and stabilizing the District in the wake of COVID-19. Highlights:

Creating 35,000 new jobs in high-demand sectors, including hospitality.

Increasing the share of minority-owned businesses from 27% to 33%.
-
Adding 15,000 residents downtown.
-
Bottom Line:
The plan helps establish policies and priorities for lawmakers and enables the District to apply for federal funding to support revitalization.
Grant Deadlines:
Applications close 5 pm Friday for the fourth round of
DC Bridge Funds
. Awards range from $5,000 to $45,000, with priority given to businesses that have not previously received relief funds.

|
CNHED’s Executive Leadership Education Venture Advancing Talented Entrepreneurs (ELEVATE) Program provides best-in-class training to minority-owned small businesses (MBEs) located in DC. Through ELEVATE, MBEs work to acquire new skills that allow them to more effectively and efficiently manage their business, products, and services, as well as increase revenue and employment.
ELEVATE is the only minority executive education program in DC that is backed by a university partner. The 3-month ELEVATE curriculum, developed by the George Washington School of Business (GWSB) Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence, is led by GWSB faculty members.

ABRA’s office will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 16, and will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17.
Extended Holiday Hours
During Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Weekend, alcohol establishments enrolled in the
Extended Holiday Hours Program
may sell, serve, and allow on-premises consumption of alcohol until 4:00 a.m. and operate 24-hours starting Friday, January 13 and ending at 4:00 a.m. on Monday, January 16.
Licensees may confirm their enrollment by locating their establishment’s name on the
