LAST CALL TO BUSINESSES TO SIGN UP: District Bridges Partners with DC Shop Small for DC Dog Days : An Event To Encourage Virtual Shopping Across the District! PLUS, Pups in the Parklets !

Dog Days DC will take place online this weekend on Saturday, August 8th and Sunday, 9th. Businesses across the District are encouraged to participate, and many will be offering special sales, gifts with purchase, discounts, and more. Business owners must sign up to participate using this form and have an online e-commerce presence (products sold online can be anything from gift cards, retail products, electronic services, and carryout/delivery food options). To assist businesses who are not currently using an e-commerce platform, District Bridges will put together a webinar on its educational platform Access Point to help business owners get started.

The Adams Morgan Partnership is an organizational partner with the event this year and is encouraging neighborhood businesses to participate. It is FREE for businesses to participate . We will be promoting the participating businesses via social media and our consumer email list.

And, we can’t host a DC Dog Days Sidewalk Sale without DOGS ! In honor of the sale, we’re hosting a Pups in the Parklets event that same weekend - Saturday, August 8th and Sunday, 9th! We are encouraging people to bring their dogs to Adams Morgan that weekend while they enjoy the outdoors. If your business has a water bowl for pets, please let us know so that we can promote your dog-friendly business. If you have dog treats, please be sure to offer them to guests that visit with their pup! If you'd like the Adams Morgan Partnership to purchase a box of dog treats for you to distribute that weekend , please email bbarrie@admodc.org . Let guests know that they can share their favorite pet photos by tagging @admobid!

Have You Spotted the New Safety Signage in Adams Morgan?

You may have noticed our meme-like safety signage that has been installed throughout the neighborhood! With signs featuring Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg (RBG), tons of cute puppies, and famous people named Ryan, it has certainly created a buzz both locally and nationally!

Due to the large volume of requests, the Adams Morgan Partnership BID is excited to offer the public an opportunity to purchase our health and safety signs for personal use. The signs are exactly the same as the ones posted around Adams Morgan and are approximately 24 inches by 18 inches. The signs do NOT come with the metal stakes (those are available at many hardware and craft stores). We expect orders to be ready within 1-3 weeks -- we do not have an active inventory -- signs are printed after they are ordered. Signs are available for shipping or local pick up. Please note that funds received above and beyond the cost of printing and shipping will be used to produce additional safety signage for our neighborhood in support of local businesses.

Free Scooter Rides for Essential Workers in Adams Morgan

Two local scooter companies are offering safe, socially distant transportation options to essential workers for free!

Both Bird and Spin are two of the dockless shared scooter providers in our neighborhood. For a limited time, both Bird and Spin are offering free e-scooter rides for healthcare workers, grocery store employees, and restaurant workers.

To sign up for Bird , simply email a copy of your medical identification card along with your name and phone number to together@bird.co . Eligible riders will receive two free 30-minute rides per day for as long as it takes to help our communities recover from this global health crisis.

Spin is providing unlimited free 30 minute rides and helmets to essential workers through the summer. While scooters may not be the best vehicle with which to deliver food, they can help your employees get to and from work safely and easily. Click here to sign up .



Workshop Series: Pivot your food business to address COVID-19

LEDC is hosting a series of webinars for businesses to receive training and information from:

• professional restaurant and food business consultants
• lawyers specializing in commercial leases
• small business loan officers
• representatives from DC Government

The LEDC Good Food Fund is a bilingual program to help food businesses in the DC Metro area pivot their operations to address the impact of COVID-19.

The workshops take place August 11 - August 25.

Destination DC Offering a Free 6 Month Membership Trial

As the District continues in Phase Two, Destination DC (DDC) is focused on supporting local hospitality businesses.

DDC is offering local businesses an opportunity to experience what they offer, prior to any financial commitment. DDC is offering a free six-month membership trial for first-time members (non-hotels). You will gain instant access to DDC’s benefits , including business connections, online visibility, industry intelligence and engagement tools.

• Six months of free membership for eligible businesses* enrolled by September 30, 2020.
• Membership begins once DDC receives the completed enrollment form.
• New members will be upgraded to a paid annual membership on April 1, 2021 , unless members opt-out 30 days in advance.
• During the trial, members will enjoy all member benefits , except listings in print publications.

ABRA's Reimagining Outdoor Spaces Webinar

Next week, the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration will partner with the District Department of Transportation, on Reimagining Outdoor Spaces —a free webinar that will introduce alcohol establishments to DC’s new and expanded outdoor space program. The temporary program, in effect through October 25, 2020, allows businesses to sell and serve prepared food and alcohol in private and public outdoor areas not included on their alcohol license.

Other topics they will explore include permissible shade structures, requirements for enclosed sidewalk cafes, live entertainment prohibitions, noise mitigation, and license endorsements for sidewalk cafes and summer gardens.

Prevent Auto Thefts: Advice from the Metropolitan Police Department

We'd like to pass along a reminder from the The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) - especially for businesses using food delivery services. MPD has reported an increase in car thefts targeting delivery drivers in DC. Auto theft is a crime of opportunity, so it is best to take the correct steps to reduce the risk of having your vehicle become a target. The Metropolitan Police Department suggests the following actions to help prevent auto thefts. Learn more here .
