The beloved Adams Morgan Farmers Market is now operating at Unity Park in front of The LINE Hotel DC. Unity Park is the triangle park at the confluence of Columbia Rd., Champlain St., and Euclid St., NW. The market is celebrating its 49th year in the neighborhood. The market will be open from 8:30am - 1pm on Saturdays through Christmas.
Parking around the park will be restricted from 5am - 3pm on Saturdays for the market to allow for the vendors' trucks --
cars will be towed if they violate the parking restrictions

You may recall that RAMW has been closely following the DC Council’s markups of the Budget Support Act as we were anticipating that it would include additional financial relief for DC operators as a result of our advocacy and steadfast commitment to continuing to seek local and federal relief for our market.
Yesterday, the Council passed the Budget Support Act on the first reading and we are thrilled that It includes a grant program which was conceived and advocated for by RAMW over the past year. The program is designed to assist those not receiving other government grants with monies to pay back rent accrued during the pandemic health emergency.
The grant program is funded with $40 million dollars and would be available to a small business operating a restaurant, tavern, nightclub, entertainment venue, or retail establishment on leased property with revenues of less than $5 million dollars in 2020. The program will pay up to one-third of rent arrearage accruing during the period of April 1, 2020 to March 30, 2021, provided the landlord abates and the tenant business pays to the landlord an equal amount of rent.
As passed on first reading, the plan would be limited to businesses:
-
Open since at least December 1, 2018 (temporarily closed during pandemic still eligible)
-
For-profit, brick & mortar, with 2020 revenue of no more than $5 million
-
In good standing with DC Tax/Revenue
-
Showing at least a 50% decrease in revenue for any 3-month period during April 2020-March 2021, compared to 2019.
-
Having a lease which extends at least until the end of 2023
-
Did not receive SBA Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) grants or Shuttered Venue Operator Grants (SVOG)
-
Can demonstrate that they will pay 1/3 of the past due rent, an amount equal to the grant award
-
Businesses not receiving PPP funds shall be prioritized.
Assuming no changes before passage on second reading next month, it is contemplated that funds will be available after October 1, 2021 and that the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development will develop regulations and procedures before then.
Huge kudos to Andrew Kline, our General Counsel and Legislative Consultant for developing the concept behind this program and for sticking with it over this entire year to see it come to fruition. We will keep all of you posted as to the second reading and next steps.
