2) Changes coming to all BID tax bills this Spring
|
|
Beginning with the February tax bills for the second half of FY2016 which are
due by March 31, the BID tax bill will look different and there are some
important changes happening to reduce the incidence of BID taxes being
misapplied to real property taxes.
1) The BID taxes will continue to be due March 31 for the second half of each year
but the Fall payment will now be due September 15th rather than October 1. No
penaltiies or interest will accrue on unpaid amounts until after October 1.
2) There will be a new BID Account Number preceeding the Square and Lot
(SSL #). This number much be used on all payments - whether on line or by
check. This number will begin with BD and include either just two zeros and
the SSL# or an additional 2 digit number. This new number will ensure that BID
tax payments are deposited correctly.
3) All BID tax information will be available online on the OTR website at:
https://www.taxpayerservicecenter.com/RP_Search.jsp?search_type=Assessment.
This includes copies of current tax bills, summary of payments, etc... This will be
a very helpful feature.
4) Should you need to change the address tax forms are sent, there will now
be two forms - one for real property address changes and one for BID tax
address changes. So you can have your tax bills each sent to a different
address if you choose.
There will be more information about this in February. If you have any questions
about this during the transition, please feel free to call Kristen at 202-997-0783.
Thanks.

3) Hiring an Operations Manager

5) Styrofoam ban begins January 1!!!
Just a reminder that the foam ban (expanded polystyrene or Styrofoam™) starts on January 1, 2016. The laws applies to all businesses and organizations, not just restaurants.
The Department of Energy and Environment press release is attached.
Business or organizations that sell or provide food are subject to the requirements of the law. Examples of regulated entities include, but are not limited to, restaurants, delis, grocery stores, bars, and food trucks. Other examples include companies that provide free coffee to clients, non-profit organizations that host a breakfast and provide food for attendees, and churches that offer coffee to parishioners after a service.

News from GoDCGo about changes to transit
1) SmarTrip
® Cards are the ONLY Way to Go now
As part of its paperless initiative, Metro has eliminated paper farecards as of Dec. 3, 2015. Commuters using Metorail and Metrobus will no longer be able to
purchase
paper farecards. To ride, customers will now receive a SmarTrip® card from the fare vending machines.
Faregates will continue to
accept
paper farecards to enter and exit the rail system until
March 6, 2016
. After that, riders holding paper farecards will still be able to transfer the value from paper to SmarTrip® at rail stations with brown fare machines or Metro sales offices through
June 2016
.
