Metropolitan Washington Summer Restaurant Week continues through Sunday
|
Summer Restaurant Week
, presented by
Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington
(RAMW), returns as the biannual celebration of the region’s spirited restaurant industry from
Monday, August 28
, through
Sunday, September 3
. The area’s signature dining promotion invites everyone to close out summer with the return of one of the area’s most anticipated food-related celebrations, leading into exciting happenings like
DC Jazz Fest
and Labor Day Weekend.
Participating restaurants will offer multi-course brunch and lunch menus for $25 per person, and multi-course dinner menus for $40 or $55 per person for on-premises dining. Many restaurants will also offer cocktail, wine, and non-alcoholic pairings, including specialty options created with Topo Chico products at participating locations, giving diners wanting to partake in the program a variety of beverages to choose from.

Adams Morgan PorchFest is officially a twice-a-year event with its return on Saturday, October 14.
DC's favorite music festival has grown in size and popularity every year and this fall
we're really going big and will be closing 18th Street to vehicle traffic between Kalorama and Columbia Roads during the event!

MPD PSA 303 Community Walk scheduled for Tuesday, September 5
|
MPD Lt. Jeffrey Jones has scheduled a PSA 303 community walk for
Tuesday September 5, 2023 at 7pm
with an anticipated ending of approximately 7:30 - 7:45pm. This will be an opportunity for the community to come together, meet some of the officers from the area, get some exercise, and voice our public safety concerns together. The starting point will be 18th St. and Kalorama Rd. northbound to Columbia Rd, eastbound on Columbia Rd, then southbound on Champlain St. returning to 18th St. and Kalorama Rd.

Anti-Harassment Trainings Deadline Tomorrow
Reminder: The deadline to complete DC’s required anti-sexual harassment training is tomorrow. Classes are $35 per person.

The World Cultural Festival – and its expected 250,000 attendees – come to the National Mall Sep. 29 to Oct. 1. The deadline to register has been extended to September 15.

Organized by the
Art of Living Foundation
, the festival brings together more than 17,000 artists and performers from around the world. Partner restaurants are listed on the festival’s website and are included in visitors’ welcome packs.

ABCA Labor Day Office Closure, Extended Hours
|
Office Closure
ABCA’s office will be closed on Monday, September 4 in observance of Labor Day, and will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5.
Extended Holiday Hours
For Labor Day weekend, alcohol licensed establishments enrolled in the
Extended Holiday Hours Program
may sell, serve, and allow on-premises consumption of alcohol until 4:00 a.m. and operate 24-hours starting the evening of Friday, September 1 and ending at 4:00 a.m. on Monday, September 4.
Licensees may confirm their enrollment by locating their establishment’s name on the
2023 Labor Day roster

To Register
There is no fee to register in the Extended Holiday Hours Program. Registrations are accepted on a rolling basis, and once approved, venues are eligible to participate in all following permitted holidays.

Registration must be received 30-days before the first holiday a licensee would like to extend their hours. The next registration deadline is for:

Clear Lanes Automated Traffic Enforcement Program
|
The Clear Lanes Project is a joint initiative between WMATA and the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) that aims to improve bus travel times and enhance bus stop safety by using camera technology to identify illegally parked and stopped vehicles in dedicated bus lanes and bus stops.
Bus lanes and stops are often blocked by stopped or parked vehicles. When vehicles block bus lanes, this slows down everyone because buses must merge into traffic to navigate around the vehicles blocking the bus lane.
WMATA has mounted automated cameras on buses serving select routes in DC. A map of camera-equipped bus routes, as well as the bus lanes in the District, is
provided here
. These cameras automatically take photo and video of violating vehicles and send the information directly to DDOT for enforcement.
A 45-day warning period began in late July 2023, with full enforcement beginning on September 18th, 2023. Once ticketing begins, fines are up to $200.

💸 Commercial Property Acquisition Fund (DMPED)
The Commercial Property Acquisition Fund will provide eligible businesses with down payment assistance of up to $750,000 or 25% of the sale price, whichever is less, for the acquisition of commercial property in the District. This year, businesses will need to complete three mandatory sessions in order to apply for the Fund. OPEN now on a rolling basis until funds are expended.
