As a special treat this week, we'll have a pre-movie screening of the winning short films from
Sitar Arts Center's
Set In DC Film Festival
. The 30-minute compilation will be shown at approximately 8pm and will feature four short student films. The festival, conceptualized, curated and produced by teens in Sitar’s Emerging Arts Leaders (S.E.A.L.) program, featured films by youth ages 15 to 24, exploring love in its many dimensions – from friendship and family to a deep connection to place.

250th Birthday of the US Army Grand Military Parade
|
Increased local security measures will be in place in the days leading up to, during, and immediately following the Army’s 250th Birthday Parade on June 14, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
The Army’s 250th Birthday Parade is designated a National Special Security Event (NSSE) by the Department of Homeland Security, a designation that is based in part on the event’s significance, size and attendees. Designating an event an NSSE allows for significant resources from the federal government, as well as state and local partners, to be used to ensure a robust security plan is in place.

What’s Next:
Following last Tuesday's vote to pause the July 1 increase, Councilmembers will consider I82 repeal as part of Mayor Muriel Bowser’s District's FY 2025-26 budget, with the first vote scheduled for July 14.
