Music on the Move with ADMObile:
Held over into November -- last time until Spring!
|
Over the last six weeks, the Adams Morgan Partnership, along with
Songbyrd Music House and Record Cafe
, launched a mobile music initiative called ADMObile. Featuring a fully decked out vintage truck and a variety of musical performances, community members have enjoyed live music from a safe distance while dining, shopping, and strolling through the Adams Morgan. Due to upcoming colder weather, this is the last weekend of ADMObile until sometime this Spring, but stay tuned for more details as you never know when the next warm day might be!
This Saturday, November 14, the truck will make its way through Adams Morgan making stops for performances along 18th Street and Columbia Road NW. Performances will feature a mix of genres.
We’d also like to give a special thanks to our community partner,

, for their assistance in making these fun, socially-distanced events possible!

The Holidays are Right Around the Corner!
|
Join us in spreading some Adams Morgan holiday cheer.
After the year we've been through we all need a little extra holiday spirit, so this year we're stepping up our holiday game. In addition to decorating the kiosk at Columbia Rd. and Adams Mill Rd. again, we'll also be decorating streetlights around the neighborhood with garland and constructing an interactive,
Instagramable holiday display
in BB&T Bank Plaza.
We will have a ribbon cutting and carolers to debut the display next Friday -- stay tuned to our social media for more info!
But to truly dress up the neighborhood, we need your help. Even if it's just a couple strands of lights in the window, we'd like everyone to participate in holiday decorations this year. Please
let us know
what you're planning on doing and we'll help get the word out about your lights and/or display.
We have four 17ft strands of holiday lights from last year we will give (free) to the first person who emails

Small Business Saturday: November 28
|
Small Business Saturday is on November 28 and this year, we're bringing it online! Working in partnership with DC Shop Small and District Bridges, Small Business Saturday will be a city-wide event encouraging District residents to shop small!
All Adams Morgan businesses are encouraged to participate by offering special sales, gifts with purchase, discounts, and more.
We're partnering with the event to make it free to Adams Morgan business owners, but you must
sign up to participate using this form
and have an online e-commerce presence (products sold online can be anything from gift cards, retail products, electronic services, and carryout/delivery food options).

We all wish that the news was more positive and that nine months of adhering to COVID guidelines and safety procedures would mean we are working toward better and more profitable days for our industry. The reality is that we are all doing our very best each day to support our teams, keep the train in motion, and keep customers, employees and one another safe. We will get through this to the other side, but we’ve also been listening to health experts and expecting a setback and surge of cases for months and that is now upon us, both locally and nationally.
As COVID cases are increasing around the country, I would like to address what is happening regionally as we continue to combat the pandemic. We are beginning to experience increased levels of community spread in the region with local leaders in Montgomery County and Prince George’s County issuing rollbacks impacting our restaurants that cap indoor dining at 25% and in Prince George’s County outdoor dining is capped at 50%. While no one wants to consider what further rollbacks may look like, we also see what is happening around the country and it is important that you continue to be prepared and plan for any potential changes in allowances.
In DC, indoor dining remains capped at 50%, however, we want to bring to your attention that the daily case rate in DC is in the red in terms of metrics for the first time, which is not a positive sign. While everything is developing quickly and the Mayor has NOT suggested that a rollback will happen and this number could go back down, we also want you to be prepared for the alternative and any steps the city may take in reaction. As we have updated information we will of course share it with you immediately, but for now we want to make sure you are at a minimum thinking about what your plan would be if DC or counties in Northern Virginia follow Maryland’s course of action.
I also want to raise your attention to upsetting behavior taking place in our region, which is an increase of hate crimes that are targeted at Asian owned businesses. If you are a victim of this heinous crime or are witness to this behavior, we encourage you to report it ASAP to 911. If you see something, say something. During these times, and always, it is critical that we stand up for each other and stand up against hate and ignorance.
In DC, we want to remind you of what is allowable during the winterization process to ensure you are fully in compliance, and do not get an unnecessary visit from an agency. The city has a very helpful streatery winterization guide, which is not new, but is good information to review as it gets colder and you depend more and more on tents and heaters.

for a separate guide from DDOT for applying for heater and tent permits. Below are a few key elements of what is allowed in the winterization process.

Heaters (electric and propane) are allowed under tents/canopies as long as no sides are down. If any sides are down, heaters (electric and propane) are not allowed under the tent/canopy.

Portable, electric space heaters shall be plugged directly into an approved electrical receptacle. If extension cords are used, they must be rated for the amperage needed to power the equipment being used. The extension cords will not be considered as permanent wiring.

Heaters (electric and propane) must be 5 feet away from the ceiling of the tent/canopy.

with helpful advice on extending the outdoor dining season, creating a dining experience, and mitigating risk through your approach to floorplan, as just a few topic areas.
On the federal front
, the House starts their lame duck session next week and the Senate starts the week after. Initial work will be on leadership elections and housekeeping. Then they’ll work on the must-do items this year. At this point we do not know what type of relief is on the table and many questions still loom. Will Trump embrace a big deal during lame duck? Will Democrats push for a deal now to take one item of Biden’s to-do list, or will they wait for a better deal with Biden in the White House? Will the GOP want to wait until next year, so the cost of the bill is totaled by the Biden Administration? Will Pelosi and McConnell be able to reach a compromise? Unfortunately, we have more questions than answers at the moment, however, RAMW along with the National Restaurant Association continue to advocate on the behalf of our industry that is in need of support. We will share more information as soon as it is available.

The Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) will be hosting a virtual ID Compliance Training, a foundation course dedicated to preventing underage drinking by reducing youth access to alcoholic beverages. The 90-minute session—inclusive of Q&As, will touch on key must-knows such as:

Acceptable forms of photo identification—international, federal, and state—including guidance on how to handle expired licenses during the public health emergency
