RAMW Update Regarding Phase 2
|
Phase 2 will allow for indoor dining at 50% capacity.
The Department of Health has created important
guidance documents
and the following measures should be implemented to help reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission amongst employees, patrons, and the community. Outlined below, are parts of the guidance, however the document is four pages, so we encourage you to read it in full as it touches on staff, guests, cleaning, and general protocol. Please also note that some of the Phase 2 guidance is included in the Phase 1 guidance and you are already implementing these protocols. The guidance includes:
-
Service is limited to outdoor service and indoor service up to 50% capacity to seated patrons only with tables placed so that patrons are at least 6 feet apart
-
Patrons may only be served at a restaurant bar, if patrons are seated at least 6 feet apart and no bartender is working behind the bar. Standing at a bar is still prohibited.
-
Tables are still limited to 6 persons, preferably from the same household.
-
Reservations are encouraged and customers should provide names and contact information and record time of arrival. Dining records must be saved for at least 30 days.
-
Employees should wear cloth face coverings while working and wash hands frequently.
-
Patrons should wear face coverings while not eating or drinking.
-
Hand sanitizer must be made easily accessible at the entrance of every establishment.
-
The use of single use items is strongly encouraged.
-
When possible, employees must be spatially staggered to prevent congregating and to maintain 6 ft social distancing guidelines.
-
Perform screening (e.g., symptom questionnaires) of employees daily, prior to entering the business, over the phone or in person.
-
Enhanced sanitation and disinfectant protocol must be practiced.
-
Establish a plan in the event that an employee or patron is diagnosed with COVID-19.

The District of Columbia missed out on receiving more than $750 million in support from the CARES Act by being treated as a territory rather than a state. The Federal City Council (FC2) and its coalition is working to secure this much-needed funding and to ensure adequate support for the District for the purposes of relief going forward. While this issue primarily affects the District, it is of critical importance to the region as a whole and our ability to recover from this crisis. Significant progress has been made in the House. The recently passed HEROES Act included funding that would both treat the District as a state moving forward and make the District whole from the CARES Act.
At the end of May, the FC2, along with more than 425 members of the Business Community of the Metropolitan Washington region, signed a
joint letter
urging Senate leadership to include a retroactive fix for DC's funding shortfall in the CARES Act and to ensure the District received adequate support in future legislative action. Since then, the Senate’s efforts have picked up amid calls for further federal support and as they put together their own version of the next state/local support bill.
The FC2 is working to send a strong signal of broad support for this funding while it is debated in the Senate. With heightened tensions between the local and federal government, the need to show diverse constituent support for local funding is more important now than ever. To this end, the FC2 is working to show the continued support of businesses and individuals for this funding.
FC2 invites you to support these efforts in two ways:
1) For individuals:
The FC2 has built a tool that will allow individuals to reach key members of Congress by sending letters. The letters urge quick action on the next state and local funding package, as well as equal treatment for the District.

broadly with friends, family, colleagues and employees who would also like to support these efforts.
2) For businesses:
Last month, the FC2 sent a letter on behalf of more than 425 regional businesses in support of funding for the District. FC2 would like to publicly show this support on a website that has been launched to support this work. If you signed onto the letter (or even if you haven’t), and are willing to lend your name to the site, please fill out
