Adams Morgan Movie Nights features Battle of the Sexes on Tuesday, celebrating PRIDE

We are thrilled to announce the return of the award-winning, six-week movie series: Adams Morgan Movie Nights ! Enjoy free movies every Tuesday evening through June 25 at the Marie Reed Elementary School Soccer Field at 18th Street NW and California Street NW. Movies will kick-off just after sunset at approximately 8:45pm. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to get a prime spot on the field which boasts tiered, amphitheater-style seating.


The remaining Adams Morgan Movie Nights screening schedule:

  • Tuesday, June 11: Battle of the Sexes [Pride Night]
  • Tuesday, June 18: Race [Juneteenth]
  • Tuesday, June 25: Space Jam [Family Night]

Don’t forget to bring your own blanket and pick-up dinner from a neighborhood restaurant to enjoy during the film. Check out the amazing Movie Night specials from Adams Morgan businesses for enjoyment before, during, or after the movie! Also, be sure to arrive early for a free cookie from Insomnia Cookies .

Adams Morgan PRIDE Storefront Contest

Online voting starts Friday

This year the Adams Morgan Partnership is sponsoring our first ever Adams Morgan PRIDE Storefront Design Contest. Participating businesses throughout the neighborhood will be competing for cash prizes, including $1,000 for the first place finisher. Judging will be conducted both by a panel of residents and special guests as well as through online voting. The in-person judging will be conducted on Friday afternoon and the online voting will be open from noon on Friday, June 7 through Midnight on Monday, June 10.

Winners will be announced at Pride Night at Adams Morgan Movie Nights on Tuesday, June 11.

To participate in the online voting, go to the contest page on our website starting Friday at noon.


June AMPBID Board Meeting

The next board meeting of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District (AMPBID) will be on Tuesday, June 11 at 5pm via Zoom. In addition to regular business, we'll likely be voting on the proposed budget for FY2025.

Pride Parade Prep; Friday, June 7

In preparation for the Capital Pride Parade on Saturday (6/8), stop by Venture X to pickup a set of rainbow beads, take photos in front of our storefront Pride mural and enjoy a sweet treat!

National Sushi Day; Tuesday, June 18, 5:30-7pm

Columbia Road NW Bus Priority Project – Pre-Construction Information Session

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will host a virtual public meeting to share information about the Columbia Road NW Bus Priority Project on June 13, 2024 at 6 p.m. The project is scheduled to begin construction in July 2024. The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

SWIMMING Public Art Project Opens June 7 At Marie Reed Plaza

Bangladesh-American artist and climate activist Monica Jahan Bose will bring a massive art installation to Adams Morgan from June 7-20th. Featuring 22 blue Bangladeshi saris arranged to evoke a swimming pool and a huge wave, the SWIMMING public art project brings together communities in Washington DC and Bangladesh, speaking to the healing properties of water and swimming and inequities in access. Located at Marie Reed Plaza, the exhibition will be open 24/7 and visitors will use their phones to access a "VideoSoundwalk" with poetry and songs by the participants. The project explores the deep and essential connections we have to water as our world faces increased flooding, drought, and rising sea levels due to climate change. There will be multiple exciting events, including poetry slams and performances, film screenings, and site visits/artist talks. A short film about the project will be previewed as part of the Adams Morgan Movie Nights on June 11 and 18.

New Date for The Mother of All Yard Sales: June 15

After a rain cancellation on May 18, there is a new date for Adams Morgan's annual "Mother of All Yard Sales," and it's June 15!


Do you have stuff you want out of your house, spring cleaning-style? Sign up to sell stuff at The Mother of All Yard Sales on June 15. After the sale, a charity truck benefiting neighborhood favorite Mary’s Center will scoop up your unsold items if you desire.

BOARD MEETINGS

The Board of Directors of the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District meets on the second Tuesday of every month (except August, October, and December).

Meetings are currently being held online as well as in-person (hybrid) and begin at 5pm.
