Reserved Parking and Validation at Colonial Garage

Colonial Garage (2421 18th St.) will now allow you to reserve parking in their garage.

In addition, participating Adams Morgan businesses can validate your parking so you will only pay $8 for up to 4 hours parking (until 5pm). All Adams Morgan businesses are able to participate in the validation program, but not all do, so please check with the business before you park to be sure. Adams Morgan is home to some of the most compassionate, creative and collaborative nonprofits in the city. Support a local nonprofit with your funds this year, and know that it goes to make a difference in our neighborhood, on our sidewalks, for our neighbors. Not ready to give? WRAP's Holiday SoberRide Campagin

The Washington Regional Alcohol Program's (WRAP) 2019 Holiday SoberRide® program , in partnership with Lyft, will be offered nightly from 10:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m. from December 20, 2019 to January 1, 2020 . To use this service download the Lyft app to your phone and enter the applicable code in the app’s ‘Promo’ section. Valid for up to $15 off one ride home taken in Lyft’s Washington, D.C. coverage area.

Cards and posters are being distributed to neighborhood businesses this week. 

Adams Morgan Farmers Market on Saturday

Adams Morgan is home to the longest-running neighborhood farmers market in the city! Visit Licking Creek Bend Farm , RavenHook Bakehouse , Remi's Plants and Flowers and bi-weekly Purple Mountain Grown locally grown organic rice and flour for all your essential weekly needs from 8:00am to 1:00pm, rain or shine, at SunTrust Plaza, 18th Street and Columbia Road NW. Bring your own bags and get your seasonal fruits and vegetables every Saturday through December. Check our Facebook page for each week's produce. There will be some Christmas trees for sale but they could go quickly so go early. You can also order through email .

Composting will be available at the market this weekend.

Compost Crew is zero waste solution company whose mission is to divert organics from landfills/incinerators and instead compost them to revitalize our soils. Come to the market to learn about the benefits of composting and their compost collection services which is similar to the trash and recycling services a local government provides. With Compost Crew, customers sign up to pay for their compost service. For residential customers, the green bins they provide are emptied once a week.

The Adams Morgan Farmers Market is open through December 21.

Private Security Camera Incentive Program

The Private Security Camera Incentive Program , administered by the Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants, encourages residents, businesses, non-profits and religious institutions to install security camera systems on their property and register them with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). This program is intended to help deter crime and assist law enforcement with investigations.

There are two ways to participate:

The Private Security Camera Rebate Program creates a rebate for residents, businesses, nonprofits, and religious institutions to purchase and install security camera systems on their property and register them with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). The program provides a rebate of up to $200 per camera, with a maximum rebate of up to $500 per residential address (e.g., home offices, condo buildings, and apartments) and $750 for all other eligible addresses. The rebate is exclusively for the cost of the camera(s) including any applicable tax.

The Private Security Camera Voucher Program provides a private security camera system to eligible residents free of charge. District residents—either owners or tenants—who receive public assistance may be eligible to have a camera system installed at their home.

New Fines for Non-Compliance with the DC Commuter Benefits Law

Are you a DC organization with 20 or more employees? The DC Commuter Benefits Law requires businesses (including non-profits) with 20 or more employees (full-time or part-time) in DC to offer commuter benefits. As of November 14th, businesses operating in Washington, DC that are not in compliance with the DC Commuter Benefits Law are subject to fines.


What are the fines for non-compliance?

For the first offense, each month that a business is not in compliance could result in a fine of $100 per covered employee. Repeat offenders would see fines of $200 per employee for the second offense, $400 per employee for the third offense, and $800 per employee for subsequent offenses.
