AMPBID Board meeting - April 9, 2013 at 5 pm
The next meeting of the AMPBID Board of Directors is April 9th at 5 pm at the MPD Third District Headquarters - 1620 V Street, NW in the Snyder Conference room on the first floor.
We will be joined by Angelo Rao, who is the City-Wide Program Support Manager for Parking and Street Lighting at DDOT. Mr. Rao will review the results of the parking survey with us and will also brief the board on the planned roll out of a Parking Management District.

Reminder: DC Small Business Policy Forum - April 5th
The Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development (CNHED), the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) and the Small Business Policy Project Steering Committee extend a personal invitation to attend the Small Business Policy Forum. This is the first of a series of three breakfast forums of the Small Business Policy Project. We hope you will attend the two subsequent forums as well, planned for late May and early July.
The April 5 Small Business Policy Forum will look at obstacles and challenges to small and micro business in the District of Columbia; the second Forum will focus on best local and national practices to better support small business; and the third Forum will conclude the series with recommendations for making systemic change that improves the environment for small businesses and enables them to thrive.
After recommendations have been made at the third Forum, a key group of stakeholders will be appointed to develop action plans with timelines for implementing the recommendations and will monitor their implementation until completed.
The Small Business Policy Project has been developed under the direction of CNHED and DSLBD with the able advice and direction of a Steering Committee and the financial support of Citi Community Development and Citi Foundation. For more information please visit this website:

April 10 ANC meeting at 7pm will review all CR licenses up for renewal in Adams Morgan
At the April 10th ANC1C committee meeting on ABC and Public Safety issues, they will review and likely vote on whether the full ANC1C commission should consider protesting any of the CR license renewal applications in Adams Morgan. The meeting begins at 7 pm at the Kalorama Recreation Center at 1875 Columbia Road, NW.
They would like to encourage all business owners who have a CR license to attend the meeting and participate in the discussion. At the outset of the meeting, they will announce an outline of the discussion and estimate of timing per business. People are free to come and go as they please and to be present only for the part of the discussion that concerns them.

Interested in attracting new patrons and raising money for a worthwhile cause? Then we have the event for you!
The Adams Morgan Partnership BID and Mary’s Center have teamed up to invite the businesses in Adams Morgan to participate in
Taste of Adams Morgan
, an exciting new event series for 2013. The first of three events, the launch for
Taste of Adams Morgan
will be either May 7

from 5-9pm, and we need YOU to make it a success. (The date will be determined by which businesses are able to participate on either date).
Taste of Adams Morgan
will provide city-goers with a chance to sample from Adams Morgan’s best restaurants while supporting your neighbor, Mary’s Center, in the process.
Tickets will be available for purchase online as well as at The Little Shop of Flowers prior to the event and at Toro Mata and The Little Shop of Flowers the day of the event with proceeds going to Mary’s Center. Each ticket may be redeemed for one pre-fix “taste” at the participating restaurants. Drinks and other food would be purchased by the patrons individually at the restaurant.
So with tickets in hand, attendees can stroll throughout Adams Morgan at their leisure, ready to whet their whistles and partake in some of the best dishes that DC has to offer.

Washington, D.C. – Registration for the metropolitan Washington region’s annual Bike to Work Day 2013 on Friday, May 17 is now open at

. This year’s Bike to Work Day will be bigger than ever with more than a dozen new pit stops added, for a total of 72 in the region -- District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia – offering cyclists refreshments, entertainment and giveaways as part of the celebration.
Bike to Work Day, organized by Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA), prompts thousands of area commuters to bicycle to work to highlight and promote this clean commute option.
“Bike to Work Day is a great way to promote bicycling as an alternative to driving alone to work. Ten percent of BTWD participants reported that they started cycling to work after participating in their first BTWD event,” said Nicholas Ramfos, Director of Commuter Connections. “And it encourages those who already bike, to do it more often. More than 20 percent of BTWD participants say cycling is now a regular part of their commutes.”
Last year there were 12,700 registrants, and coordinators expect registration will again break records as novice and experienced cyclists join together to celebrate bicycling as a fun, healthy and wallet-friendly commute alternative. The first 12,000 registrants will receive free Bike to Work Day t-shirts at the pit stop of their choice and become eligible to win great prizes such as Jamis bicycles. was conceived by Chris Brown, and was founded in 2007 by Eric Levin, Michael Kurtz, Carrie Colliton, Amy Dorfman, Don Van Cleave and Brian Poehner as a celebration of the unique culture surrounding over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA, and hundreds of similar stores internationally.
This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists in the United States and in various countries across the globe make special appearances and performances. Festivities include performances, cook-outs, body painting, meet & greets with artists, parades, djs spinning records and on and on. Metallica officially kicked off Record Store Day at Rasputin Music in San Francisco on April 19, 2008 and Record Store Day is now celebrated the third Saturday every April.
