Over the holidays, Enchanted Nails and Spa opened at 2324 18th Street, NW (formerly Maggie Moo 's Ice Cream). Viviana and her staff look forward to welcoming customers for manicures and pedicures, gel manicures, hot stone pedicures, full body waxing, facials and much more. They have renovated the space beautifully and taken advantage of the great windows. They also offer special packages for bridal parties.

Streetscape Reconstruction Act of 2011

Under Councilmember Jim Graham's leadership, we were successful in the recent passage of PR19-0489 STREETSCAPE RECONSTRUCTION EMERGENCY DECLARATION RESOLUTION OF 2011. The complete legislation is not yet available on the DC Council website but this legislation will allow for the reconstruction of existing projections after streetscape construction has removed it, including patio cafe areas, with only a building permit and no further public space committee review.

This will enable businesses who will need to deconstruct patio cafe areas as part of streetscape construction the ability to rebuild with only a building permit.

Free workshop on business taxes - sponsored by the DC Economic Partnership

For every business owner, it is critical to understand DC’s business taxes. In understanding them, there are a variety of tax abatement programs that entrepreneurs should to be aware of. In this edition of DB2.0, the speakers will cover the basic tax requirements for business owners and explain any recent developments available and useful to business owners. The panelists will discuss the general business tax requirements, employer tax requirements and other types of business taxes.

DC Circulator has a new website

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) launched a new, redesigned website for the DC Circulator today. The new DCCirculator.com features more interactive, modern visuals and creates a more user-friendly platform to display bus route and bus information in an easy-to-view format.  The website completes a set of changes for the DC Circulator that began this past September including the addition of the new Potomac Avenue-Skyland route and the consolidation of stops along various routes to increase efficiency and overall service.

The new site was designed to allow for a better overall experience for users to easily find helpful information on the bus system and to attract new users to the DC Circulator service by incorporating the following features:

Rider Information - Detailed, step-by-step directions on how to navigate the bus system. Information includes how to load your bike onto the bus, how to pay the fare and how to recognize a stop and which direction the bus is headed.

Interactive Map - Users can view all five Circulator routes and stops and hours of service for each route. The map uses a Google base for a more familiar look and feel. The map also links to goDCgo’s Interactive Map , showing how the Circulator connects to other modes of transit throughout the District. Users also have the option to download and print the full Circulator route map. Both interactive maps were developed by the District’s Office of the Chief Technology Officer ( OCTO ).

Neighborhood Information - The section titled Where We Go highlights many of the neighborhoods that Circulator buses pass through. Each neighborhood’s unique qualities are highlighted in this section including restaurants, shopping, nightlife, music and sports venues and more. The route that travels through the neighborhood is highlighted. Live Twitter Updates - Live updates right on the homepage of the site links users to service alerts via Circulator’s Twitter feed @DCCirculator .

Going Mobile - In the coming months, DCCirculator.com will be optimized for mobile devices, providing users information right at their fingertips through smart phones and other Internet capable devices.

Nextbus - The Circulator is on Nextbus , a real-time arrivals tool to help users plan their trips and know when their bus is coming. Users simply choose their route and stop and are shown, in minutes, how long until the next buses will be arriving at the selected stop.

Known for its convenient 10-minute headways, the Circulator costs one dollar a ride, with additional discounts for seniors and District students.  More information about the routes and schedules is available at www.dccirculator.com
