Drag Queen Storytime returns Sunday!

We're partnering again this year with the
DC Public Library
and
The Line Hotel DC
to bring back
Drag Queen Storytime
! Join us monthly starting this Sunday, April 24 for a free children’s story time in Unity Park! We'll be set up in Unity Park on the last Sunday of every month from April through October at 11am. Rain location will be inside

(next to the park).
The goal of Drag Queen Storytime is to inspire a love of reading, while teaching deeper lessons on diversity, self-love and an appreciation of others. Visit

Adams Morgan Movie Nights returns May 24!
|
One of DC's favorite annual events is back this spring with
a
great lineup of films that we'll be announcing next week
. The theme of this year's series is "The Road Less Traveled," featuring characters who are on a quest or journey of sorts.
The 2022 edition of Adams Morgan Movie nights is sponsored by
Gifted Curators

The Silva
,
Wegman's
, and
Insomnia Cookies
who will once again be donating hundreds of cookies for each screening on a first-come, first-served basis.
New this year
: Gifted Curators will be providing free freshly-popped popcorn to attendees.

page on Facebook for the complete lineup announcement and other promotions. Movie Nights runs on Tuesday evenings from May 24 through June 21 with a rain date of June 28. Movies are shown on the soccer field at Marie Reed School and start about 30 minutes after sunset.

Attention food-serving businesses and organizations!
Effective January 1, 2022, it is now illegal to distribute small disposable items like utensils, napkins, condiments, and straws unless the customer asks for them first.
The new law will reduce needless waste and encourage customers to only take what they need. For more information, see

DITCH THE DISPOSABLES grant program
Created by the Zero Waste Act, this program will fund selected projects at food-serving entities in the District to transition from disposable to reusable foodware.
The grant program is administered through Chesapeake Bay Trust. Please check the links below for more information on who is eligible for the grant and what types of projected can be funded.

Public Safety Forum with Councilmember Brianne Nadeau
|
Thursday, April 21; 6:30-8:30PM
Councilmember Nadeau is hosting her annual public safety event to bring community members and the Office of the Attorney General together to discuss initiatives designed to address the violent crimes in Ward 1. This is an opportunity for community members to get to know some of our partners working on public safety and how Ward 1 residents can pitch in.
This event is scheduled for April 21st at Columbia Heights Educational Campus (3101 16th St. NW) from 6:30-8:30PM. The event will also be streamed online via Zoom and Facebook with Spanish interpretation provided.

2022 DC Business Expo: Resources for Financial Success

The focus of this Spring's DC Business Expo is: Financial Resources for Success. This in-person event is designed for District-based businesses who are interested in positioning their businesses for financial success and DC residents exploring entrepreneurship.

2022 CSA/Licking Creek Bend Farm membership is now open
|
The 2022 CSA Season:
All pesticide-free vegetables and pesticide-free and IPM fruit are picked the day before. Pick ups on Saturdays in Adams Morgan.
The CSA season is divided into 4 sessions for one a week pickups:

June-July (Tuesday or Saturday)

August-September (Tuesday or Saturday)

October (Tuesday or Saturday)

November (Saturday only)
Early Bird: (April 30 deadline):
$337.50 (9 week session); $300.00 (8 week session)
After April 30:
$360.00 (9 week session); $320 (8 week session)

Bike To Work Day 2022 Registration is Live
|
The League of American Bicyclists began Bike to Work Day as part of Bike Month in 1956. Over the years, Bike to Work Day has grown into a widespread event with countless bicyclists taking to the streets nationwide in an effort to get commuters to try bicycling to work as a healthy and safe alternative to driving alone. In the Metropolitan Washington region, Bike to Work Day has grown from a small group of a few hundred in 2001 to an all-time high of 18,700 participants in 2017.
The Adams Morgan pit stop will be at Unity Park again this year where we'll again be joined by
City Bikes
and
WABA
. Adams Morgan regularly has one of the highest registration rates in the city and we plan on having refreshments and other goodies available to riders in addition to the free t-shirt. We'll be updating you with more information as the event gets closer.
