1)
Business to Business Happy Hour - THIS Monday January 26th
In November, Adams Morgan businesses were invited to the Smith Center on U Street for a business to business happy hour. It was a great event with about 30 people in attendance. Now it is our turn to host the next happy hour for Adams Morgan and U Street business owners.
THIS Monday January 26th at 7 pm at Roofers Union at 2446 18th Street, NW in the first floor lounge.
Roofers has offered to continue their happy hour drink prices for the party and will provide appetizers for the group also! Nice!
They will save a section of the first floor lounge for our party. They will run happy hour pricing until 9pm for us but yet still allow normal guests to join (or stay) if they want. Most of their happy hour folks are locals so it would be a nice way for business owners to get to know their neighbors too.
Please help us spread the word to your neighbors!
2) Get ready for snow!
|
Winter is here, and last winter was the season that never seemed to end. Now is the time to get ready before the next ice and snow storm.
District law requires that property owners and commercial tenants remove snow from the sidewalk around their properties within eight hours after a snowfall has stopped. After that, city inspectors can fine you!
Sidewalks in front of your office, restaurant, retail store, salon, etc...have to be cleared to facilitate the flow of pedestrian traffic. That means you need to shovel all the snow from the entire sidewalk - not just a path from your door to the curb. Please do your part to keep Adams Morgan looking great and safe throughout the winter.
Thanks!

3) Pleasant Pops clever marketing
We saw this on the Prince of Petworth blog and thought it was petty clever marketing from our own Pleasant Pops!
Though the holiday season has come and gone, Pleasant Pops is thrilled to keep some winter cheer alive in DC. Throughout the next month, Pleasant Pops employees will be spending part of their shift roaming our neighborhood, including Adams Morgan, U-street and Kalorama, attaching Cheer Cards for free coffee or tea to bikes.
As a way of saying “Thanks for commuting in a healthy and sustainable way,” and “You must be freezing out there, better warm up!” and “Sure we’ve got amazing Pops, but have you tried our coffee?”, the cards will be attached with an elastic band to bike handles.
Similarly, any cars that have been ticketed will also get a Cheer Card to help brighten their cruddy day. Pleasant Pops values our neighboring communities, appreciates those who brave the winter winds by bike, and always aspires to brighten up dreary days.
Thanks, and Happy 2015!
