Capital Bikeshare Offers Free Memberships for Essential Workers in DC Region
|
Today, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) and its six partner jurisdictions announced that Capital Bikeshare will provide free 30-day memberships to essential workers in the DC Metropolitan Area, as the region continues its response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) public health emergency.
Essential workers eligible to participate include those in the healthcare, food service, food retailers, and other essential industries, traveling anywhere in the seven member jurisdictions of the District of Columbia, Arlington County, the City of Alexandria, the City of Falls Church, Fairfax County, Montgomery County, and Prince George’s County.

Information on Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans
|
The following information is derived from several resources.
Regarding the forgiveness period for the PPP:
up to 100% can be forgiven for any 8 week period between February 15 and June 30th, the latest applicable period ends on June 30th.
Regarding how the amount of the loan is calculated:
The loans are categorized by how long the organization remains operable from the beginning of the crisis period (February to June 30). For businesses that continue to operate and retain employees over that period, the SBA can provide a maximum loan of 250 percent of the average monthly payroll costs during that period:

If you are in business over the period from February 15 to June 30, you will receive a maximum loan amount that is 2.5 times your average monthly payroll expenses over that time period.

If you are a seasonal worker over the period from March 1 to June 30, you will receive a maximum loan amount that is 2.5 times your average monthly payroll expenses for that shortened time period.

If you were not in business after February 15 — that is, if you were not open because of the crisis or you went out of business entirely — you will receive a maximum loan amount that is 2.5 times your average monthly payroll expenses for the two months of January and February.

Insurance During Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Department of Insurance, Securities, and Banking (DISB) has been working closely with the Executive Office of the Mayor, the Health Benefit Exchange Authority, and other District agencies to make sure that District policyholders do not experience barriers to testing and treatment. The insurance companies that the Department regulates have continuity of operations plans that allow them to respond to the needs of enrollees and to continue to process and pay claims in a timely manner. Each of the District’s health insurance companies will offer flexible options for consumers and, in some cases, waive cost-sharing for COVID-19 testing. They will also allow access to early refills for prescription drugs and, to the extent possible, extend grace periods for premium payments. Enrollees also are encouraged to take advantage of the telehealth options offered by their health plan. The Department has issued

fraudulent products
advertised to treat or prevent COVID-19. Since COVID-19 is a novel disease, specific treatments for it have yet to be developed.
